Yeah you get the season, but we are canning you after that. Do your best. Not as bad as the rotating managers bit, but have you ever worked with anyone in your life?

I said last year he would benefit from going on a sabbatical. That view hasn’t changed.

He arrived into this job with some fresh ideas but as those have gradually wore off he’s reverted back to what he knows.

He's young enough to still be able to improve but that’s never going to happen with the constant firefighting here.

Klopp wasn’t, Arteta has been on an upward curve for 3 seasons now. Pep is usually there or there abouts.

Come on, man. They had the top budgets in the country, they have the resources to win most of their games. The lower outlay you have on wages and transfers the more flaky you'll be. Howe has had us above par in the context of that reality.

We spent the guts of 250m this summer. On top of some heavy investment in seasons prior.

My word, man. You are relentless. We didn't spend for three windows, and until this summer were like 8th in spending since Howe was here. He obviously had us punching above our weight. But seriously, look back at some of your absolutely insane takes over the last couple of seasons.

The money has been spent so now what?

For me the issue is the squad. It's not one another manager can greatly improve anyway imo.

People keep talking about the money spent and it largely doesn't matter to me. Is it a stick to beat Howe with? The money was spent poorly. Nothing can be done about it now. It's about what we can do going forward.

I no longer blame the players.

Sure and we still had an excellent squad. He’s spent 250m and taken us backwards.

I'll take the Isak point. Losing a player like that will affect things but he/the club handled the situation badly.

I really like him and he’s a great ambassador for the club in how he conducts himself but he’s limited as a coach.

The issue is that after this potentially very poor season finishes, we’re going to lose players like Botman, Tonali and Gordon and perhaps even Tino.

I don’t trust him to recruit well. And my suspicion is that Ross Wilson is there to do what he wants rather than oversee what he does.

Not avoiding at all. It was Dr Jinx.

Thats irrelevant to the topic though. He’s been inconsistent in every season, there have been reasons for that, the injuries in the last CL campaign season for example.

Less excuses last year as the schedule wasn’t as horrific and arguably we had a better team. There were times of frustration but those weren’t as prolonged as this seasons decline.

He headed recruitment this summer. All of those players were his picks, he should have known exactly how he was going to integrate them into the side.

If the argument is that Woltemade breaks the press system. Why doesn’t he just play Elanga up front to hassle defenders?

In that no excuses season, we finished in the champions league spots and won a cup. That's despite our main and often only striker having patches in and out of form and his own injuries.

Every manager can select the wrong players, use the wrong tactics or fail to manage a game properly from time to time. Likewise every team can have off days even if they are set up right, have individuals who don't perform or pick up injuries.

We don't have the squad of some of the consistent managers - that's why they are consistent. Our own team has been massively disrupted over the summer and we are fighting on three fronts, two of which we're doing well in.

Yes, if we continue not to perform in the league that's an issue. But the one thing that is consistent is that Howe tends to get things right. I personally disagree with anyone suggesting he should be on the way out or recruitment has been a mess due to a shaky start in the league that's not even half way through.

Nice way of glossing over this like. The Rat saga crippled us this summer man, put us right in the brown stuff. Saying it "affected things" is about as gross and understatement as it's possible to make.

I've never got this take.

It's an Internet forum, nothing prevents anyone from posting an opinion, but the more out there, different or daft an it is, naturally the more commentary it'll draw.

No idea why folk go on like they're being cancelled at times

I suspect that you'd be like this if somehow he won the league. Losing the focal point of attack is a much bigger deal than yiou are letting on. And how did he handle it badly?

But beyond that, you suggested that we hire rotating managers for each season, and that it might be worth looking at Mourinho last year, so why should we take anything you say seriously?

What exactly would satisfy you? What are you looking for?

Start acting like a big club. Pellegrini was doing ok with City but they went and got Pep. Nobody talks about him or Mancini anymore, despite both winning the league for them.

There’s always better out there. What’s wrong with wanting better?

There's a whole cottage industry of self victimization, with people painting themselves as brave martyrs without having to pay the price of being brave martyrs.
