I agree with this also. Germany had the exact same problem, but the manager changed it and within their last two games, Woltemade had support, getting the ball played to him consistently (not being totally isolated) and getting onto decent service being played into him. If one manager in less games can see the issue and correct it, then why not Howe (it's getting worse not better)?

This is true buts also a large tactical issue of this silly low block we do. We invite pressure and have no outball so it just comes back at us. We need to get back on the front foot.

I’m torn between Eddie’s tactics being long in the tooth or they should be more effective but the players he puts out there aren’t able to execute.

 

Outside of Bruno, who carries this team on his back, we’ve lost our intensity, guile and haven’t imposed ourselves against opposition away from home in a season and a half in the league.

If the players are too tired to execute those pressing and intensity, then play those who are fresh enough to do it.

Wolte just forced a penalty by pressing last match. Sorry I don’t buy that. It’s a tactical decision from Howe.

Isak didn't press half the time either. Our lack of press isn't because of Nick. It's clearly a tactical instruction.

He did aye, I mean he obviously didn't do much of anything second half or last season but he did press some when we were in our pomp.

Today wasn’t the worst performance of the season. I’d say it was on a par with Brighton, Leeds and Villa.

 

West Ham and Brentford were far far worse.

 

City was probably our best. That in itself raises more questions.. perhaps it’s that they came to win and didn’t sit back.

 

If that is the case then we’re a team that can only win in certain circumstances, one dimensional essentially.

 

Could say poorly coached but we’re not allowed say that are we.

He did like, not like a fit Wilson but more than Wolt and sharper.

 

Wolt has time to build up to it, he's came in to a situation with little prep for what he needs  etc. End of this season and start of next seaso  we really see Wolt.

I genuinely think this is the worst. Put it this way - would you ever imagine we even didn’t put up a fight, in a derby, against a team that is just recently promoted from Championship?

 

I ain’t calling for Howe out, but this is the worst. Everyone knows the importance of this match. No way you approached this game by begging for one point right from the first minute.

The “poorly coached” might be something Eddie admitted himself. I remember a recent interview when he talks about hoping he had more prep time to coach aspects of Wolte’s game and all that. He needs time to drill things into players.

 

While it’s helped get the best out of the likes of Joelinton and Murphy, it’s ultimately also Eddie’s achilles heel. I don’t recall him ever doing well in a period of twice-weekly games, unless it’s in the middle of a purple patch. I am hopeful of a rebound once we get a one/two week break - see the Man City and Everton (A) sequence after the international break.

 

Still hoping he could find solutions before then, cause we need it fast.

When Adam clearly done that video not long ago he said we revert to a 4-5-1 whilst out of possession which then means woltemade has to do lots of running to close them down.

but he then said other teams usually revert to a 4-4-2 out of possession and that helps the press. Why don't we do that then? Pushing a winger in field to give us some legs.

Because we don't want to press. We are clearly managing our energy levels which begs the questions why did we spend so much building a squad. Is it Eddie needs his 6 months to bed them in before he trust them? Is it they were bad signings ? I

That’s not how football works. We’ve beaten much better sides in years gone by with shitter players and shitter managers. Doesn’t therefore mean if X happened we’d be Y. 
 

It was a turgid performance and a shit result against fan base that’ll live off it forever but the sweeping judgements passed off we fact in the aftermath need to chill out.
