Sometimes you have to play a weaker option to save the legs and fitness of your main players.

Krafth was massively underused earlier in the season  lascelles and Alex Murphy aswell could've helped with the load.

even if it meant twenty minutes here and there at the end of games.

He is simply not good enough.

None of the other CL teams would give minutes to a Krafth level player outside of an injury crisis. I love Krafth but he might not even be a PL level player.

i won't blame Howe for not giving Championship level players minutes.

The last 2 seasons only say we finished higher than them. What you attribute that to is another matter.

I attribute it to our players being better than what they have over that period of time. Better manager obviously help.

As I mentioned in my post, clubs like Manchester united tend to have people over rating the players they have because of the profile.

We will never know if we have serviceable young players as they don't get a chance to show it.

History has shown that we don't have a track record of serviceable young players compared to Man U.

If Howe thinks Murphy isn't of the level i'll believe him until proven otherwise.

I'm not blaming Howe if he doesn't turn water into wine. Maresca complains about his squad every week. It's so much stronger than ours it's crazy.

It's crackers using miley and Jacob Murphy in the position rather than a natural fullback. Atleast the natural fullback knows the positioning side of the game.

Howe clearly wants his right back to push up into midfield, Miley is far more suited to doing that than Krafth IMO.

Krafth is injured atm too.

A PL-level CM is better at FB than a League 1-level fullback more often than not. The levels of footballing ability or too stark.

So we have depth but there not good enough to here a lot in here. But to then use burn at leftback and miley or Jacob at right back when they will be exposed and targetted by every team is a better way to go.

Players like Krafth and Lascalles are barely squad members if we are being honest.

I mean I think folk are forgetting we have 3 competent CB pairings...

Thiaw and Botman

Schar and Burn,

Lascelles one Krafth

RB we have Trippier Tino and Krafth

LB Hall Burn and Murphy.

We're hardly sleeping the barrell for defenders. Just unlucky...

We lack depth at full back. The first choice right back shouldn't be the back up left back. Also Burn shouldn't be considered a leftback at all.

In my books we have 3 fullbacks and one is ready for the retirement home.

He's rarely let us down in the PL. He's very much a PL player imo.

Krafth is one of those players that will do a solid enough job as a defensive fullback, but your team as a whole looks worse for having him in it. Fullbacks are so important to building attacks these days.

As an emergency stopgap.

If Krafth was expected to start 38 games for a PL team, you would assume that PL team would be fighting relegation/relegated. I personally think he's a Championship player. A great pro, gives it his all and is reliable which is why he's still here.

He's a bringing-on when winning 3-0 player. Or injury crisis to play 3 or 4 games and not be a disgrace. Or replacing the winger with 5 to go haging onto a lead. That's fine and what he did last season. But he doesn't get regular minutes for a team going to the last 16 in the CL and finishing 5th/6th.

So why does burn get the nod at fullback?

Their players still fetch much higher fees than ours though, especially their back up players. That tells you something.

You won't get any argument from me that he shouldn't be there, but clearly the answer for the most part (this season at least) has been it was a last resort.

When we had young Murphy on the bench I'd rather try him than burn.

Woltemade kept playing barely getting a rest aswell now he's looking knackered fitness wise. Osula at the time was lucky to get ten minutes in them games. Now he's injured woltemade has no option but to play couldve been managed better. In my opinion.

Murphy did really well when he came on, I was expecting him to be relatively shite tbh. But I suppose he hasn't really been tested.
