He did and other than Ibe, who I believe was struggling with his mental health, he had a pretty good hit rate.

It couldn’t have been that good as they got relegated.

Solanke, Lerma, Mepham, Brooks, Billing, Danjuma and Kelly. Over £100 million there.

That's very reductive thinking. There were a few reasons why they went down.

We’re playing easy/safe football. We need to be braver. We need to try something different.

Passing side to side to whip in a cross is our style.

Try a few long shots

Try taking players on

Try different combination of subs

Try Wolte and Wissa together

We can’t just go game to game calling out individual players. The players at fault differ. This is a bigger problem than individual players.

We are low on confidence, but please, please try something different…

But his signings played a part, some of those went on to be decent players for Bournemouth like Solanke but he was terrible during Howe’s time there.

He was given money to try and progress and sadly for them it didn’t happen, the players make the required impact and it all went stale.

These away performances all  season are pretty much the same standard as what Steve Bruce served up for the majority of the time he was here. That's 5 away games now where we've failed to score and we aren't even into January yet.

If he can't find any answers his position should be under threat. That's fair enough.

Not sure where we go after this....its Burnley away and I cant tell you which Newcastle is going to pitch up.

There is something seriously wrong with the squad and how we going about things. We need a big signing or something to give this team a lift, hoping to get through this patch doing the same thing with the same players is only going to yield the same results.

and that obviously won't be good for Howe

Recruitment now, independent of his (mediocre, mostly contact-based talent ID) record, is much harder than it was. He still underperformed his spend - even then.

I thought there were some decent elements to our game tonight until the final third, but that's kind of massively important [emoji38]

I felt it was a very perplexing decision to not even try 2 strikers for 10 minutes, he had subs to revert back to 4-3-3. Said it before but I feel he's become too obsessed with balance a la Guardiola and Arteta.

Have a lot of sympathy for him after the events of the summer. Have a lot of sympathy for him given the lack of structure above he’s had to manage for the last couple of years. Have a lot of love for him for everything he’s done for us. Have a lot of sympathy for him with the Wissa injury basically forcing him to accommodate Woltemade which is a bit like trying to build an airport whilst you’re midair. Forced to try to change the way the final third functions whilst playing millions of games and having no time on the grass, which is where he does his best work imho.

With all of that said, some of the away performances have been woeful, some of the signings look poor and I agree with the sentiment that perhaps the players could do with hearing some new voices on the training pitch.

He’s a really good bloke who I hope can turn things around. Hes going to need a BIG January.

Hold on.. is it actually 1 in 23 in the league? I made that Mick McCarthy post earlier as a joke... there is no way.

We've taken 6 points on the road this season from a possible 27 including tonight's game.

This is hyperbolic. We attacked all the time in the 2nd half today. Yes we didn't score because we have 0 goal threat away from home at the moment.

But under Bruce we would still hang back and try a few counters when behind. It was infuriating.

I disagree. We are completely toothless away from home. As soon as they scored I said that's game over and it was.

How many times have we come back to get something under Howe this season after going a goal down? I genuinely can't think of one.

Leverkusen away we got a point. That’s it.

Half the season gone and by tomorrow evening there is a good chance we’re 14th or 15th in the league.

if this continues he’ll be gone next summer without a shadow of a doubt. A cup might save him.

On course for a 48 point season if we follow the same points tally as the first half.

Because them two pay huge wages we don't.

Still. Tonali doesnt have many options, Bruno didnt leave when we missed Europe last time etc.

I think it will only affect incomings. Hall and Livramento I am a bit worried about though.

None I believe. Look... Im not excusing this shite away form but to say things are the same as under Bruce is far fetched. Back then he would change nothing when we went down. All we had was a faint hope that Maximin, WIlson or perhaps Almiron could carve out something out of thin air to get a result... usually a draw.

We just don’t look the same team all around. Where has the fire gone? I get we can’t play like that all the time with the schedule, but we turn it on once every few weeks.

Of course give him until the end of the season, but if no improvement.. he needs to go. I love him to bits, but the same mistakes we have all spotted from day one keep popping up. If he is reluctant to change, how can we improve?

The subs every game near dead on 70 mins are so predictable. Just no real fight/guile in the team.

We love you Eddie, please give your head a wobble and sort this shit out.

Howe set the foundations for Bournemouth and is a club legend, but they are better now than they were with him as manager...

The same will apply to us.

They have only got 4 points out the last 27 possible.

They have a very tough next 4 or 5 fixtures after tomorrow and semenyo is offski

I've just backed them to go down at 33/1

Might get a decent cash out come the end of January
