Hope Eddie watched that match at Villa Park and took some notes. ELITE game management from the Grandmaster Emery.

I would imagine that the argument would probably be Villa lost to Everton and Brentford at home, we should be beating them at home.

Someone mentioned the other day that maybe we prioritise the cups, im starting to think that maybe we are.

Seems to me like we are aiming to finish 5th to 8th and push as far as we can in the CL and other cups. Which is fine with me but it would be nice to know thats the plan.

Ultimately a shot at the CL isn't something that may come our way consistently.

Just now, Sir Joel Inton said:

You can’t come in here and criticise Howe after a defeat otherwise you have “an agenda”.

Villa lose one game and the usual suspects in here posting about it.

You couldn’t make it up

They're not seperate things. The point is that bad results and bad form happens to good managers. When it happens to Emery it's highlighted for that reason, not because the people who defend Howe don't rate Emery.

Prioritising cups over the league would be a bit mad really, you never know what’s going to happen on the day of a knockout game in terms of injuries, red cards, dodgy penalties etc.

It did work. Unless you're being deliberately obtuse or have an agenda, you should be able to be honest and separate the merits and success of a setup from individual errors within it.

You want Howe out and don't deny it. You having that agenda isn't really meant as an accusation, it's just an accurate description of something you openly admit...unless it's described as an agenda apparently.

I’m a grown man, if I wanted the manager sacked I would say it. I’m posting on a football forum online.

It’s pretty pathetic that you think you’re running around “outing” people, tbf.

Given our away from and position in table, we should be beating them. Or rather we really need to be.

The Geordie journos latest video is quite good at explaining the situation.  Seems to be those who are Eddie in react to a good result/performance as “WHERE ARE ALL THE  EDDIE OUT LOT NOW”, and on the flip side those who want him out seem to revel in defeat “WHERES THE EDDIE IN LOT NOW”.

The reality is you can of course be concerned/be critical but don’t overlook the last 4 years of his time here.  You know for a fact he’ll be absolutely gutted at how things are going and working on how to fix it, you can guarantee it.  This season seems ill fated from the start, yes that doesn’t excuse some of the performances but it just feels that way to me. I think he’ll be here next year and we will be back to our best

The way I see it is Eddie is having to fight on four fronts, with an expectation from some that we perform at the same level as established, cartel clubs, probably due to us actually having overperformed with what we have previously. We don't have the depth in quality or the financial clout of those aforementioned established clubs, so I just find our inconsistencies to be expected as things stand. In all honesty, we're probably breaking even on where we should expect to be, as frustrating as that can be. Eddie's actually performing a miracle that we haven't just collapsed under the expectations from punching above our capable weight. I'm not denying that Eddie's tactics sometimes appear questionable, but no more so than any other manager would in our situation, what realistic alternatives does he have? What players can he bring in that would make a difference? We're a million miles from the very dark times we've had over the past 20 years and I never thought I'd see us win another cup or get regular European football again. Our club is massively hamstrung by the PSR nonsense and also doesn't have the type of players that cheat to get results, which I'm forever grateful about but I'm damned if I'll take that out on a manager who's done for us what Eddie has and maintains the positions and status across the competitions that Eddie does.

As with most things these days, I think people take opinions too far - tactically we could do some things differently, I'd like us to be more pressing and aggressive (like we were a couple of years ago), but it's not feasible with the amount of games we're now having, the players just wouldn't be able to sustain it. We just need a bit of help to push things on, be that from the owners pushing on with the stadium and training facility improvements or someone legally taking on the completely uncompetitive and ridiculous rules put in place by a league who actively wants us to fail.

As far as im concerned, Eddie has enough credit in the bank to see out another couple of seasons. If we happened to finish below 10th/11th I might start doubting, but thats for then.

I've toyed with the idea of bringing someone else in, who I won't mention incase everyone disagrees but Eddie's my man for now.
