If the owners genuinely really want to be considered in the conversation for winning the CL and PL in 2030 then, sad as it is to say it, Howe will be sacked in the coming weeks. This, moreso than any stadium announcement will tell us what the future holds.

I mean, Man City didn't think twice about sacking Pellagrini(?) once he won the league and Pep was available.

They didn't sack him.

He had a three year contract and when the three years were up he left.

Iraola is the only one that would tempt me, and even then I'm a bit like meh.

Sideways move for me and could easily go the same way as Frank at Spurs did, when there’s some expectation and pressure applied.

Not to mention how long it took him to turn things around at Bournemouth too, following his arrival.

Unforgivable second half. Sorry to keep bleating on but the shite performances week after week - who is to blame?

Been average to shit for nigh on 11 months with £250m spent in that time. Unacceptable to let a team - regardless of locality - who’s scored 8 goals away from home and 1 in their last 8 from open play, absolutely take the piss second half. Unforgivable.

Sunderland had scored 8 goals away from home all season?

Did he get his first choice players?

Name a manager who gets all their ‘first choice’ players

It is a terrible excuse.  He’s had plenty of money and time to assemble a squad better than the one that lot down the road scrambled together

Having calmed down a bit from earlier, I’d still definitely give him the summer and next season. Genuinely think he will transform us again in the summer, similar to the summer before we finished 4th.

It's a bit similar to being destined for relegation but with a manager who's renowned for getting promoted. Assuming we don't finish in a European place, I'd absolutely back him to deliver us a very good domestic campaign next season. Feels like we're guaranteed a good crack at the cups as well under Howe, something which has seemingly become underrated this season.

The transfer business has been exemplary since the takeover bar last summer, that wasn’t all Eddie Howe, that was Staveley and others driving it. Now it’s gone wrong it’s ALL him? horseshit tbh. The leadership and direction at this club has been abysmal. Doe he not get any slack at all at how the club have handled it? It’s all him aye? He’s not blameless, but the business we do can’t fall all at his door man, just say you want him out then

I never said the previous windows was Staveley.  I think Howe would’ve had serious input and would have had final approval on signings.

It is hardly ‘all on him’.  He’s not to blame for an absentee ownership group.  But he’s far from exempt from blame.  I suspect many on here who are defending him by saying he’s blameless would not be saying ‘none of this is on Eddie’ if this season had went really well.

You’re blaming him for the summer window

It’s clear that we need to move players on in the summer, but do we trust him to spend it wisely?

He’s constantly wanting overpriced players from Bournemouth and similar.

We need to buy wisely, and there is no real value in Premier League players.

I am, and I’m happy to give him credit for the 2022 window(s).  But that was four years ago.  I don’t blame Howe for Isak - I get the impression he (correctly) wanted him out.  But where’s his excuse for the likes of Elanga or Wissa?  Do we seriously think he hadn’t seen them play?

He’d spent plenty of time politicking to get himself control over transfers.  He got it, and they’re his signings.  And again, if last summer’s window had been a success I don’t doubt that all those defending Howe for it would be saying ‘sure, all the signings have been tremendous, but that’s nowt to do with Eddie’

Yeah, it's been playing politics behind the scenes in the club and got his way but it actually dealt him the wrong hand when he needed it.

Purely hypothetical, but which of the big five (Spurs don’t count), if they had a vacancy, do you think would go for Eddie, if he was free and available?

I love the guy and want him to stay, but curious to know what others think.

It was said nearly every club in the league would want him though which I don't think is the case. The elite clubs in the league wouldn't appoint him. Villa and the mackems wouldn't either.

I think he'd have a chance of getting the Liverpool, Chelsea. Man United or Spurs gig.

Spurs only, the others wouldn’t have him.

Chelsea, but even then I’m not sure, they aren’t going to want a guy who wants the control he does. That’s not a knock on him, just the way they are

All of those clubs have changed manager whilst he’s been in post (some more than once), why have none considered him so far?

Arsenal too.

Given Man City are thinking about Maresca after Guardiola - surely Howe would have a chance too

You don't know what you got til it's gone
