What’s my join date got to do with it? I’m a fan like everyone else, and there’s no getting away from the fact that us fans have turned on managers for far less.

Of course you are.

Pipe down you silly cunt.

The so called silly cunt might be an 80 year old and has never missed an NUFC game for 65 year, but has just found this forum.

What next, lasses can’t have opinions on football ?

I can't possibly imagine why we haven't turned on Howe (even though many have) when we turned on Pardew and Bruce. Get fucking Poirot on the case.

Aye it's mad that fans wanted rid of two of the worst people ever associated with the club over the most successful manager in our lifetime.

No doubt he’s the most successful, but he’s also the only permanent manager to oversee 9 defeats in a 12 game run

🤣🤣🤣 This is exactly the sort of short term nonsense I'm referring to.

Anybody who thought Souness was a better fit for NUFC than Robson at that point, please put your hand up? There were thousands to be fair, not that they'll admit it.

Part of me thought that Souness would sort out the 'Young guns' as they called themselves - Dyer, Bellamy, Jenas, Ameobi and Bramble - but after a good start, it quickly turned to shite.

Aye no idea what his joining date has got to do with it. Does this mean we're never meant to grow as a community? Weird comment.

Maybe we really are cursed as a club

I know for a fact that's bullshit because I have Pardew's record more or less memorised.

Souness was a bad appointment in retrospect. He undid all of Sir Bobby's good work, as had Dalglish with Keegan's.

I don't buy the curse thing anymore, otherwise we wouldn't have won the League Cup, last year. That pish has been banished.

Are you Howe in or Howe out?

Eddie broke the curse but in so doing had to engage in black magic, thus condemning his soul.

He deserves a statue for that.

However he spent hundreds of millions and we play boring football, so it's time for a fresh start.

How can this not be sackable to some fans, fans hounded other managers out for less, if this was Bruce or Pardew there would be riots outside the stadium. Sentiment gets you absolutely nowhere.

It's been poor.

If you start to look properly into some of the reasons why it might be poor, you would maybe understand that's it's not all so black and white and much more nuanced.

Happy to be corrected

Middle of 12/13 he lost 9 out of 11. End of 13/14 start of 14/15 he lost 17 out of 21. Knowing him there'll be other records too.

Nobody bar Shepherd thought that at the time or since. Was merely stating a fact.

Wasn't even arguing against you more going along with the joke.

Some of the problem are self inflicted though, Howe’s treatment of Woltemade for one.

With Isak, Gordon, Bruno, Hall on top form we were never boring.

Our league cup run to the trophy wasn't  dull.  Tactically brilliant, with enjoyable football.

He needs the players which fit.  Needs some help there.

Richard Dinnis lost ten top flight league games in a row after winning the opening match in 77/78

Generally speaking though, Richard Dinnis isn’t a manager you want to be compared to in terms of NUFC

 And welcome aboard :)
