Proper happy we got Barnes over Maddison. Maybe not as big a star or as flashy but Barnes fits well with the rest of the players and the mindset of the club. Maddison probably a bit too gildfish in a bowl player.

 

What happened to Diaby at Villa? Would he have kasted longer here?

Maddison was never going to fit our system anyway.

For me the sacrifices the team would have had to make to accommodate Maddison isn't worth what he would have brought to the team, so I'm glad he went elsewhere. He has quality no doubt.

I mean, you can say these players are all 'dodged bullets' but we have no idea that they'd have been as disappointing had they been here, under Eddies coaching.

In the managerial context we definitely dodged a bullet with not getting EtH.

 

From collection everyone on this forum, myself included, wanted him to take over.

 

Fortunately he wasn't interested.

I think we've changed strategy since then anyway. Carlos was probably a good defender, but wasn't he close to 30? His resale value will be pretty low by the time he leaves Villa.
