Wouldn’t mind an attacking front of Gordon, Pedro, Isak and Kudus with Tonali and Bruno in a double pivot in a 4-2-3-1 fluid setup. Would have a bit of everything. Dynamic and technical ability.

That would be sensational tbf.

Why have I just clicked an embed that says “talks for Joao Pedro at advanced stage” only to see it’s an article about us becoming a £1bn club and talks for JP are “advancing, not “advanced”. Lying cnt MD.

If you think about it sensibly with the JP deal nothing is going to happen until he’s back off holiday.

They know Chelsea are lurking and ready to match/beat our offer it seems if they decide to go for him.

If this deal happens it will be when they can get JP and EH together face to face or remotely and get a medical booked in quickly etc.

Would be amazed if there is any further news until JP available for meeting/medical/contract sign off.

Wonder if Chelsea will ever let us have a player

Lets atleast push the price up for them. Not that it matters though, they'll spent 400 mill, finish 4th and end up with more PSR headroom than before.

Something just doesn’t seem quite right about paying more than double for a player who has pretty much stayed around the same level as his previous club.

Not saying he’s a bad player or anything, just the fee seems all wrong.

Has he done anything since his move to Brighton to warrant doubling in price?

He’s become a better all-round player than he was at Watford like.

Difficult to quantify that with anything other than the eye test mind, and whether that means he’s now worth ‘double’ is obviously open to conjecture.

Look at Ekitike’s asking price…

The new formations always amuse me a bit, they're all missing Joelinton. Have people forgotten how effective he is when he's on it ? We rarely lose

He isn’t on it all the time. Also different tools for different games. Plus he’s injured a lot and is also likely to have a suspension or two. It’s a squad game and I think it’s good with a diverse setup tactically as well. We also need to rotate.

He’s also increasingly rarely fit unfortunately.

Oh aye, I want to see diversity myself and really hope this deal goes through. But I have a sneaking suspicion that we still haven't seen the best of Joelinton and he cones back stronger this season, the raging desire in him is very evident to me

He played 29 games last season. He averages 30 EPL games a season for us, which is 75% of the games.

I could be wrong but in the last two PL seasons I think he has missed more than 30% of the games

Since he signed for nufc

38,31,35,32,20,29 epl appearances

The anomaly being the 23/24 season.

Missing almost 30 games in two seasons is a lot. And this season he probably has even played when not fit.

Yeah, if you cherry-pick two seasons to make a point, especially when 20 plus games are in one season, you're right. But if you're being fair, you should look at the season with his serious injury separately. Plus, half the team was injured in 23/24. My point is, Big Joe averages 30 EPL games a season, so saying he's rarely fit is wrong.

But I do need someone to cover for him, you know, for when he's rotated or suspended or has a knock.

Joelinton will always play the better teams when fit IMO, but I think against worse teams sometimes it could be worth sacrificing one of our midfield 3 for a bit more ability on the ball. Joelinton can play out wide as well though so he’ll get plenty of game time no matter what.

It’s also easy to forget that he’s got older. Especially when you consider his build and playing style. I hope I’m wrong but can see him struggling with fitness to a degree in the coming seasons.

You might be right or might be wrong on that, but at the moment to say he is rarely fit is definitely wrong.

Well I think he has been injured a lot in the last two seasons. If that’s wrong then let’s agree to disagree.
