cubaricho
That reads like such a fucking American job post description. Ugh.

SEMTEX
He's done a sterling job at turning the Union into a force to be reckoned with in MLS. And crowd numbers have gone through the roof during his tenure.
thomas
I didn't even know cameras in 94 could capture bad haircuts in such fidelity.

Deuce
Gregg Berhalter named national team manager. More of the same then. Zero reason they couldn’t have made that appointment a year ago. Also a total joke that they didn’t even really consider anyone else.

Kaizero
Wholly uninspiring choice and the least kept secret ever. You guys turned down fucking Julen Lopetegui when he asked to get an interview for the position FFS.
Deuce
Tata Martino and Juan Carlos Osorio as well. Fine if they interview all these guys but opt for Berhalter instead. Just make the case. But there’s no indication they ever really considered anyone else. Reeks of nepotism, as Berhalter’s bro is a USMNT bigwig.

Deuce
Grant Wahl has a good take: http://amp.si.com/soccer/2018/12/02/gregg-berhalter-usmnt-manager-us-soccer-earnie-stewart-jay
Mike
Lopetegui got the answer I usually get in FM. I really wish I hadn't just learned about this.
Ameritoon
I don't mind Berhalter, just the manner in which it happened. Also annoying that Oscar Pareja was the other option and they went with Berhalter. Pareja was my hope from day one, one of the few MLS coaches willing to play his academy products. Ameritoon
Trapp playing over Tyler Adams or Weston McKennie will be a fun way to start off the cycle
Deuce
Of course the MLS nerds like Matt Doyle are wanking themselves silly over this hire.
Deuce
Tyler Adams joining RB Leipzig in January very good move for his development.
Deuce
Surprised he's being moved to the wing, but the writing was on the wall he wouldn't be a right back for us. Switching to the Pep system where the right-back is essentially a center midfielder. Maybe the extra crossing every match will help him... I was initially all “boo! *hiss*” about this move because it means moving Adams out of midfield, where he’s played really well for Leipzig. But I’m feeling better about it after hearing Berhalter’s rationale. Don’t know if it will come off as he intends, but at least it makes sense. Way different than Klinsmann’s random shoe-horning of players into unnatural positions: https://www.mlssoccer.com/post/2019/03/19/warshaw-move-right-back-tyler-adams-could-be-unleashed
