Open Wide For Some Soccer!

Not USMNT per se, but Bob Bradley's Egypt has a WCQ against Zimbabwe next Tuesday. So far 0-4 in 2013, but only friendlies and against the likes of Ghana, Cote d'Ivoire, Chile (and Qatar). Currently first in their qualifying group.

Pretty remarkable what he's been able to do, all things considered. Bradley's become one of the most widely respected men in the country, likely because he's worked hard in the community as well. Egypt will erupt (in a good way) if the national team manages to qualify for the WC. Feel good story, especially as the U.S. squad is currently in such dire straits.

They won 10-0 today.

Ridiculous the players that end up playing for Caribbean sides. Just put the Jamaica game on and Jermaine Beckford is playing.

Reminds me of that time Tyrone Mears got a cap because he just assumed his dad was from Jamaica without bothering to check and it turned out he was from Sierra Leone.

Is Qatar paying off players yet to get Qatari citizenships?  2022 isn't that far off, I'd imagine they would have to start now.

They've been doing it for years IIRC.

They also tried to pay a Kenyan to do it, obviously he has more self-respect than some of the long-distance runners:
