Always thought he would leave, but always though it would be amicable. Think that's what's worst of all this.

No issues with him leaving, I don't think anyone does but as with anything you have a way to do it. It's become evident he's having a strop about it and trying his best to force it without even doing the honourable move of request a transfer officially.

Wants to explore a move FFS, don't be a pussy and just say what it is.

If we hadn't qualified for the CL I couldn't have begrudged him wanting to leave. But we did...and we won a trophy. Maybe he just realises that the jokers in charge of the club will never build a PL winning team as they can't sign anyone.

Didn't bother him when we didn't qualify or win a trophy and didn't sign anyone.

I’m low key annoyed he’s not forced to be on the trip and with his mates who can either tell him to do one or they work collectively to get him on board.

and if he’s sold while we are gone, buying club can pay for the jet from Asia.

Would it? He's refused to play that isn't going to be detrimental. Clubs don't care as long as they get there player.

What injury allows for a player to to play every week multiple times and put an effort on for 30 mins then walk around for the rest of it? It didn't make sense at the time but hey ho, our star man benefit of the doubt and all that. That's no longer the case everything is questionable.

To be clear my stance is simple NUFC over any player.

Actually fucking loads of injuries would do that, and more importantly, there's no fucking chance Howe would have kept picking Isak if he wasn't giving it his all in training.

I'm probably more gutted than anyone that Isak might be leaving, but your daft stories in your head isn't helping anything

was going to rebut this but you've provided zero examples of other players doing this. Please go rewatch some games and explain how he can sprint in the first 20 minutes walk around for the remaining games and tell me what injury that is. It would be plausible if it wasn't week in week out.

Anyways it's all good, your a good lad happy to disagree on this and move on.

Imagine how many goals he would've scored if he was trying...

This will feel awful if it happens, but it has been decided that other clubs are allowed to pay higher salaries, so what can you do

Now some time has passed, I still reckon it's 50/50 whether he stays or goes.

Before today, we already knew that Liverpool want him + that he'd listen. This isn't new information. So why not throw a strop last week, pre-Ekitike? He hasn't (yet) committed to properly submitting a transfer request either, suggesting that both options are still open. Admittedly, a new contract is now a long-shot.

So reject the £130m rubbish, dig in + by September it'll all be behind us for another year. It's in his best interests to then be professional. I think next summer we'll still get £120m but this time with some preparation for it.

We hold the cards.

Tbh I'd rather see him go at this point, so long as we get Wissa+ a striker + a CB before the window shuts. Considering how bare bones and impotent we are at a directorial level, I seriously doubt we can get that amount of business done before the window shuts.

I have a feeling Wissa, Elanga + a striker is all we'll manage in the next 5 weeks

That’s the most unsober take of all time, Roc.

Stone cold sober my friend, just the blinkers are off. It's all good though I understand why it's hard to accept.

It is what it is, to repeat this coming out is really damaging for us the fact this has been engineered when all the rival bidders have spent up isn't a coincidence. I hope everyone is ready for the only wanted Liverpool tweet.

Don't forget a GK too.

This goes without saying but no matter what we do, if he leaves we’re worse off. Doesn’t matter who we bring in.

What a shit situation.

He was always going to leave but I hoped it’d be at some perfect moment where we’d get an insane amount of money for him. 120m is snip.

It's a shame it had to end up like this. I never expected him to stay forever, but at least give us one more season and then go next summer with our blessings and gratitude.

The way he's done it has fucked himself over more than anything. I mean who's going to come in for him at this stage? Is he really going to consider going to Saudi? At least next summer he would have had plenty more options to choose from.

He hasn't fucked himself over, that's the one thing he hasn't done. He will be off to Liverpool if he has his way.

I get your point to be honest. No idea myself and there is no way to verify your take is true but he did seem off to me at times last year. Your scenario certainly isn't out of the realm of possibility.

And to clarify, he didn't feign injury did he because he was playing week in week out ergo not injured. He'd just thrown the towel in and couldn't be bothered anymore.

To be clear injured players aren't starting week in week out. And it's one of those things which are in nobodies interest to actually state.

There is no guarantee Liverpool will come in for him again in this window or offer the kind of fee we will be after.

Next summer he could have had his pick of Barca, Real, PSG, Bayern and yes, Liverpool too. Just had to give us another season.

They will be but they don't have the rush, this has all come about because Liverpool weren't willing to meet our asking price, so this little scenario has been created to drive our price down.

Liverpool don't have psr issues and have 3 years to balance the books, the question mark for them is more are they willing to finance further spending basically bringing spending forward from the next year.

I just hope we adequately replace him like we did when we sold Andy Cole.

Sadly, there doesn't seem to be much striking talent out there, at the moment.

Isak himself, whilst very good, is no peak Alan Shearer, Batistuta or R9. We are in a very weak era for centre forwards.

I hope the club can come strong and issue a statement that Isak will not be sold  under any circumstances due to unacceptable behaviour

in fact we can afford Sesko and Wissa even if we don’t sell Isak this summer. I really see no point entertaining his wish

From everyone I’ve talked to today (including a current employee behind the scenes), I’m convinced this is agent driven by the way. It’s out of character for Alex to act like that.

Agent gone rogue and still has a job

It’s not agent gone rogue. It’s agent relentlessly pushing for him to move on, triple his wages, etc.

I really struggle to hold much ill will towards him. We fucked up by not pushing a contract extension any time in the last 12 months.

I am going to be very annoyed if we just roll over here. Selling him to a PL club should be out of the question unless the price reaches absurd levels.

If it's less than Declan Rice it's a travesty.
