Lewis Miley

This was Rodri on FIFA when he was 20. Now I'm not using FIFA scouts as some authority, but he obviously wasn't pulling up trees at Miley's age and even older.

 

I think Miley will play a similar role when he fills out too.

This is it for me. Seems like there always needs to be an extreme opinion one way or the other. Not necessarily on here but with football in general, I’m probably guilty of it in some aspects

Of course he's behind the BTJ trilogy, so are most PL midfielders  not just this 18 year old. He's arguably next in line.

Yes, he's not yet freely showing what he can do in the last third in his limited game time, but he comes on with clear instructions and carries them out very competently.

Yesterday the game was turning against us and they were breaking at will and dominating the game. He was brought on as an extra midfield body to try and break them up and that's what he did.

As a reminder of what he can do in the final third, even in his limited domestic game time, he has come up with three crucial goals, all at key moments in games, not the injury time 5th goal in a 5-0 win. He can pick out the killer pass when it's on, clearest example yet being the one he set up for Izak last season. He was pretty competent against PSG and Dortmund as well in big pressure games.

His time is coming and apart from the fact that he's developing quite nicely in our squad, the anticipated number of games next season means he will stay here.

He's well off it in Eddie's own regard too though. That's not going to help his development.

 

He has the right team around him though. And a pre-season will do wonders. Hall learnt it quickly. Hall became an Eddie Howe player, Barnes too - by becoming that split second more aggressive in their play.

He's 19, not everyone is going to be Cesc or even Jude to a lesser extent. It's extremely hard to be ready as a CM at that age.

He clearly has talent, needs time to develop. More playing time/loan out (feeder club pls) would help massively.

Miley should have had an assist yesterday until Barnes decided to have a first touch like a blacksmith

Composed and cool and really helped us to keep the ball in possession. Never looked like a struggle for him to allow us to retain the ball.

He’s great at that.  But he needs to show more for me.  Neat and tidy on the ball that’s it. He’s a big lad now, sometimes run with it. 
 

Overall as you say composed on the ball. Helped tick things over. Didn’t make a Meaningful impact tho

Should be looking at Rice and thinking he could do that. It's why I think a season in The Championship where he's going to technically be one of the best in the league will give him a chance to gain the confidence to play like that.

Ticking ball over for me is making an impact. Just silently going about moving the ball. What we need in CM as Bruno can then be the more attacking one as he’s shown he has goals in his game, then you expect your wide men to score plenty over a course of season.

Thought he was good when he came on, technically so capable and very calm as well.
