The good old days when every English club sang you'll never walk alone. different ditties made up on coaches to away trips. Every player had the song or chant. but everyone complained about the home support apart from The Leazes End

Good post would be quite a sight having a few hundred fans in Butchers coats.

Some of the old songs like Howay The Lads the slower version, we’ll support you evermore Newcastle Newcastle can get the hairs standing up and really should be easy for the masses to sing at a normal speed.

Brentford away for brilliant for howay the lads howay, me n fee blokes shouting it and belted back from those lower down.

Even Brentford scoring twice didn't underupt the howay the lads .. got to be the most underrated and easiest chant to catch on.

We need the Indian war-cry fella back from the late 80s / early 90s from upstairs in the East Stand! Harry Palmer with his guitar on the pitch pre-match too!

@NUFC91 is the man to lead the revolution like. Get him a megaphone at the bottom of the gallowgate. Hand out some song sheets. Heron boss of the corner

Ban mobile phones. Those under 25 who don't wanna sing. Banned for life

Pensioners in the east stand. Posh fuckers in the Milburn. Tourists in level 7. Away fans in the leazes.

Haha mate I'd do anything to sit next to like minded fans, the bloke next to me is one of these who says get rid when 3-0 up and got ball at the back...or gives it a "bloody shoot" when anyone within 30 yards and criticises anything.

Just hope someone sees some sense in further standing.

Is it meant to be ‘united > clap’? Never knew that.

Was always UNITED (clap 3 times). Not sure exactly when the Toon bit crept in but I think the first time a remember it was when we were playing Man Utd at home probably 20 years ago or so. Their away fans were singing "UNITED" and to drown them out our lot were shouting TOON in between and it seemed to catch on from then.

Remember playing Port Vale in the 3rd Round of the FA Cup back in 1993. We were in the Milburn E Paddock directly underneath all those crackerjacks who used to sit in the Milburn Stand Leazes Section.

Me and a group of my mates started singing "When the beans come out the tin" and after a slow start it caught on and those in the Milburn Stand above us joined in.

One of my prouder moments at SJP [emoji38]

I remember in the 80’s, corner gallowgate next to the burger hut a bloke always used to shout… “if you can’t get it in put it in a bigger tin”.

Another lad used to point at nothing in particular and shout… “to the beach”

Was he not just flexing his arms and saying “to the beach” and pointing, as he may have worked out? That’s the only thing I can think of [emoji38]

You did a stellar job getting through every verse in the pub after too. No wonder your throat was fucked! Definitely need a few more of you dotted about with that level of commitment to really getting the atmosphere going and maintained.

I reckon me and Heron would have fun singing that in a pub again. Maybe some others would join in! Quite a few years ago since we sang it in the Cummy Arms in Byker!

I didn't think it was bad at all for a 7.30pm mid January kick-off mind - shame Saturday is the shitty 12.30pm slot - everyone needs to go to the Garter for 9am!
