Ah the glory seekers can't be arsed anymore now that we're not doing very well. Never seen that coming.

I wonder what the members demand is like for tickets as well lately. I'd imagine quite a few of them will have suddenly found a reason as to why they can't apply anymore, coincidentally, just as we're playing shite.

They'll be the first to complain next time we have an upturn in form and they can't get a ticket though...

If this is another dig from someone on here at those who walked away from Mike Ashley's NUFC then you can get tae fuck.

Don’t disagree at all.

Not to mention the away ticket/loyalty point situation.

Not seen anyone calling the loyalty point system unfair/closed shop this season. Because we've been shite and those people aren't interested in going anymore.

Why are they walking away this time then?

Absolutely no question about the pricing and people have more important things in life than paying for football. My point is though, these "reasons" only ever surface just by complete coincidence, when we're playing shite and then magically disappear when we're playing alright.

It's always been the case though hasn't it. When I first started going in the mid 80s crowds could go up or down by a good 15k or so from one game to the next just because of the opposition. At least nowadays it's basically 52k odd every week regardless and there is that huge financial commitment these days if you want to attend which wasn't there 40 years ago.

Totally agree. I'm not questioning the pricing and that its a massive outlay for people to put down these days. Its the fact that all the noise about not being able to get to games (home or away) had gone now despite there being empty seats yesterday. My point is, some people only want to go when we're doing well. Price isn't an issue then apparently.

That's fine, but dont then complain you can't get a ticket if/when things turn around.

The same applies to away games. There was a load of noise around changing how away tickets were distributed from those who couldn't get. Not seen it mentioned once this season. Why? Because we've been shite.

Far too many only interested when were flying, thats my overall point here.

The match was officially sold out though wasn't it. Lots of ballot failures and people being unable to get tickets in the members sale which followed. Those empty seats would mostly be from people who paid for tickets and didn't turn up surely.

Not sure if 100s popped up on resale on the day of the game but again if they did they are from ST holders who didn't fancy it.

The flip side of the coin from your comment of don't complain that you can't get a ticket if/when things pick up would be don't expect loyal members who you've shit on over the last 3 years with ridiculous ticketing policies and prices to suddenly come racing back now the tourists that you've targeted don't fancy watching rubbish.

Was a few on resale on Friday as one of my mates got 1 then. Could have chose anywhere In the ground he said.

The opportunity is there for people to go, they're just not interested at the minute (for some reason).

Maybe it's changed now but earlier in the season resale was a waste of time if you wanted to take your kids or go with mates as it was always only the odd single seat coming up whenever I tried.

If more are suddenly appearing now that's through ST holders not fancying it for some reason and hoping that members will buy them up. Over 52k tickets were sold for yesterday so I'm assuming that's what happened.

Because we're doing shite and they can't be arsed anymore, which is my point. My point applies to them as well. I wasn't pointing the finger at members or any particular category. I know members who go to games who 100% will bring more atmosphere to the ground than most season ticket holders.

It just annoys me when we're doing well and you have people complaining they can't get home tickets and people complaining they can't get away tickets and want the whole system changed to suit themselves, have all vanished off the face of the earth but will be back complaining if/when we ever pick up again.

You can’t point the finger at members for the empty seats yesterday. Ballot has been over subscribed for every game this season. If ST holders can’t be arsed to go and put their seats up for sale within a few days of the game, that’s on them. You can’t expect members to suddenly be able to drop everything to go.

I was there yesterday as I anticipated ST holders would put them up for sale given our recent run of form. Just wasn’t expecting so many to be available!

More people spit their dummies out, justified or otherwise, the more chance we have of grabbing one of those , 250+, Golden Tickets 😉

I take your point but ST holders are obviously not complaining about access to home tickets.

I do think we’re in a new reality where Champions League campaigns won’t be as regular. I think we were able to get the likes of Bruno and Tonali because they thought we’d be backed by Saudi’s to become title contenders. Nobody is under that illusion now, and last summer was the first indication of this.

So we’ll see demand level out a little but as the Bruce years showed, we have a large core support base that will be there regardless.

That was kinda my whole point about people now not being arsed about going anymore who have complained in the past about not being able to get tickets or season ticket holders selling their tickets.

Thats human nature i suppose.

An old bloke who sits beside me - called it right yesterday - I was shouting howay get behind them (when people were grumbling and moaning) and the crowd needs to do their bit. He said we’ve not got a football crowd anymore we’ve got an audience.

as an aside the toxicity when Elanga fked up in possession in the 2nd half was horrible to see . Paula did something similar minutes later and did t get half the abuse, I know he’s shite but getting on our own players backs never helps.

Exactly.

The vast majority just go for a day out these days. 35k season ticket holders and I bet 90% of them just sit there in silence for 90 minutes, unless it's to shout abuse at 1 of our players or boo.

Tbf, in the preceding home game against Sunderland the players were greeted with one of Wor Flags’ best displays and an atmosphere right behind them yet still served up a showing as bad as the stuff served up in that fixture under Pardew. In addition, the club charge £55-£95 a ticket in the lower bowl and fans paying that have been rewarded with 5 limp losses in the last 6.

I totally get frustrations boiling over at this point.

I’d be pretty confident that the lads that gathered on the concourse to scran chicken dippers and slurp pints on 35 mins didn’t have to go through the hassle of ballots / 10am sales / resale and a £50 minimum outlay to get their ticket.

Definitely not. At this point I'd normally say these fuckers should just stay in the pub and watch it so they can eat and drink until their heart is content and let people who actually want to be there actually go.

Based on yesterday's empty seats though, you can't even say that anymore.

The whole tone of SJP needs an overhaul TBH, I’ve said it before. It’s more like a lovely day out with the social club.

“Enjoy the game” has to go. No music at half time. No fucking birthday announcements. No amateur league-style match ball sponsor, no Las Vegas competition. No congratulating ourselves for the attendance. It has to be made levels more serious and more hostile. Justin Lockwood in the bin.

I’m not even an ultra or anything like that but it just smells altogether too nice and too focused on things other than beating the opposition.

Class post, agree with all of it. It’s fucking awful now. The music they do play is honking.

Ideal for people to get some nice clips to make reels for Instagram pre match and then sit in silence

I'm at the point now where I'm being priced out of going regularly.

I can't justify around £100 per match 3 or 4 times month and that's more gutting than anything else really and I believe this is also impacting on the atmosphere 🤷
