Geordies know something about it too - I was there in 2003.  Groups of Inter hooligans looking for individual or smaller groups of Newcastle supporters to gang up on.  Shit their pants when the numbers were close to even.

Aye they were proper cowards. Picking off individuals or small groups of 2s and 3s. Didn't want to know when the numbers were even or just slightly in their favour and absolutely shat it afterwards. Similar to Roma was really. Must be an Italian trait.

So what are people’s thoughts on travelling without a ticket? Even if there’s no fan zones is it likely the bars will be accommodating to away fans? Bricking it Incase I take my little un’ over and it’s just me and him in a bar with loads of germans/Italians ?

A bar in Duomo Square overlooking the cathedral were asking for €10 a pint in 2003. Bars round the corner were €3.

We ended up in some magic show one night as the place said they would serve beer.  They were asking for €40 a pint, I shit you not.  We made our excuses and left …

Definitely think Dortmund is the most attractive out of the 3 for travelling without a ticket. Don't think the Italians, specifically their police will be too accommodating towards ticketless fans, and Paris could potentially be worse again.

Will the pubs be open this time ? And will your authorities have more than 3 turnstiles open and do Milan fans do that thing where they love to throw stuff down on the opposition fans like Inter fans did ?

On the plus side, when Inter scored it was the loudest I'd heard in a stadium and it wasn't even full.

Pubs open but no alcohol for sale on match day, maybe a fan zone near sempione park.

No throw stuff, now the away fans are no longer placed at the bottom but at the top, you will be the one to throw the stuff at us O0.

On the plus side, trust me.... AC Milan fans are much much louder than the black and blue shits.

That’s a relief.  I think the flares being thrown into the away end were ultimately worse than the coins, stones and bottles of piss.   Though I admired that the Milanese stewards allowed the throwers plenty of run-up for maximum launch velocity.

The magic bit must have been making punters money disappear.

Pre game we wandered all over looking for a drink. Ended up in some cafe where they said they'd serve us if we bought food, so antipasto allowed us beers. They even hid us upstairs, Anne Frank style, us in silence, when the local cops done a check.

Roma was the same back in 99. Pubs wouldn't serve alcohol on the day of the game. Luckily a helpful local directed us to his mates bar which was a bit out of the way and we sat and drank in there all afternoon until it was time to head to the meeting point for the buses to take us to the stadium.

So are we saying nowhere in the city serves alcohol on match day? Was thinking of going without a ticket, but being sober and ticketless is one step

too far!

Dortmund threw away a 2 goal lead at home to Heidenheim yesterday, good to see.

On their forum...

Newcastle lost against 10 men after being one up in their last game.
