Segun Oluwaniyi
The bar is so low that an infant may not walk under it, but this Alozie is easily the finest girl to play for Nigeria in memory. We are competitive so far, but the attacking players look like they have just met. No cohesive play, every pass is wrong and Kanu especially is betraying her surname. This tournament is interesting so far. Women have improved in general; Zambia is the only team that looks out of place. USA has been underwhelming. iklgizmo
Ooo this could be one of the biggest upsets of the tournament so far! Nigeria beating the hosts, Australia! For context, if England win their group, we play the team who come second in this group. As it stands that would be either Australia or Canada! They look bereft without Kerr.
Segun Oluwaniyi
Oshoala impact was instant, both the corner and the goal came from her pressuring the backline with pace. Just have to hold on now!

Segun Oluwaniyi
Massive win! No support from the federation and low expectations, but they have been strong and organised with real threat upfront with Ajibade and Oshoala. Proud of the girls. Ireland will not be easy to beat, but they are in a strong position. 49 minutes ago, leffe186 said: 11 minutes. Unnecessary nerves. Australia will still beat Canada and go through.

leffe186
Walsh another big loss. They can’t keep losing the big players and expect to go all the way tbh. What a class goal though. Hate to make comparisons, but it still stands out a bit when a goal is scored that you could see in the Men’s game . Nice play, lovely turn, decent defending, perfect shot, fantastic effort by the keeper to no avail. This team is crying out for a 5-3-2 though. An extra defender to allow the really good full backs to push on. At the moment they are horrendously exposed on both wings on the break, sometimes simultaneously. Edit: on reflection more a 3-4-3. Lish007
Feel for Walsh. So many starters out now, will be v surprised if we get to the semis at this rate.

Give the women's game a few years to catch up and the standard will be as good across the board. Had 50 years ripped off us, but it's coming on quick now and as more and more countries turn professional, the standard will fly.

Better players all round but almost more importantly good coaching and organization. There will still be mismatches, but they’ll hopefully be fewer and fewer. Yeah exactly, and once the standard across the board strengthens, itll bring more money, more professionals, more sports fitness, more research into women and fitness - we are seeing it at Chelsea now with research into how the period changes a women's ability. Football has done wonders for men's fitness and will do the same for women's. It's exciting to watch it grow. I'm buzzing for the Toon women's team, would be fantastic to have the best women's and men's team in the country!!

Called the ACL gender gap! Will be to do with hormones but it definitely needs looking into. I work with a male doctor at work who is currently updating the anatomy and physiology medical book because there are many female body parts/mechanisms not actually even mentioned in it, which is sort of astounding tbh but just shows how little research has been done on women's bodies and their difference. Anyway I hope it's not as bad for Walsh as feared. Not sure how old she is but hope it's not her last feature for England.
