NUFC Transfer Rumours

We dont know the players we are going for, and the question was not now, but pre season.

If you don't know what players we are after then why are there such expectations on when we should have business done by? And what are these smart deals you think we should have done?

Also, how do you suggest we force other clubs to accept our valuations without any drawn out negotiations?

How are our closer equivalent clubs doing, such as your Villa's and West Ham's? All the noticeable signing seems to have been by the breakaway clubs with the big money and brand lure. We don't have big money, and whilst our lure is surely much greater than those two clubs, it's probably not great enough to have quality players pushing for a move if we enquire.

Brighton, Chelsea, Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Tottenham have all strengthened in some way.

So basically people would prefer we pay what clubs are asking to get players in now, even if we know valuations are at their peak because it's early in the window?

Or you'd prefer we pivot to options further down the list that are cheaper just so we can get them in early?

Is this really the approach we should be going with?

Do valuations go down the longer you wait though. Any quality player (the type we will be after) will have other suitors so is it not a case of pay up or move along?

Well you are suggestion early deals means premium. I dont agree with that. The players we are after, why does it matters if we know them or not? The point was maybe one player through the door for pre season is quite poor, which I still stand by.

I don’t think we really pivot tbh, as seen with Guehi last summer.

It depends on many factors but if we are sitting around waiting for prices to drop them we are a bit naive.

Selling clubs absolutely start with their highest price early on and you negotiate them down from there. Especially if there is no other interest at that starting price as the window rolls on. That is standard man.

You’ve just named the teams with all the PSR headroom. Everyone else is quiet.

I'm sure we'll pivot at some point if things aren't progressing, but it's still early days.

Usually negotiations wouldn't even start if the gap in valuations is too big, and the sellers are not open to any discussions. I think this was likely the case with Mbeumo.

Well if we haven't learnt from that then we'll get what we deserve.

Howe also did say that they did have other options but they weren't widely reported at the time.

Dont disagree with that, but we have payed premium fees for players late in the window also.

I just think there is some understandable scepticism after last summer. I still think we will get 3 in personally.

It’s only really Arsenal and Villa who are quiet in the area we’ll be competing in this season. At least half the league aren’t relevant to us.

Hard to say that if we didn't know what the original asking price was.

It may have been premium to you, but that may have still been the lower end of what the other club originally asked for.

Or in some cases, perhaps having failed to bring the price down, they just opted to go for it. Does that then mean they should never have tried to negotiate?!

I think we'll get a better idea of how things are looking in a few weeks.

The money's there and the main conflict regarding signings has been resolved, and so I'd be surprised if it's anything like last summer.

A lot of the teams in the league can do whatever they want. If we finish outside the European places it’ll be entirely our fault.

Think its safe to say Livramento, Isak and Barnes was close to premium.

Of course they should, but that was not the point.
