Good atmosphere too, singing from all round the ground for most of the game not just one or two stands either.

theyve got the acoustics spot on.

hate commending them for anything.

i'd always heard the atmosphere dropped off at anfield after the initial YNWA - didnt last night.

i hate them.

To be fair I've been to Anfield 4 times and it was absolutely shite all 4. I'd hazard a guess their league position more than out else contributed to the atmosphere.

That being said, I completely agree about the acoustics & character of Anfield being class, but especially their song book. Them & Man Utd always seem to have long songs that catch on fairly quick. We're lucky to hear Blaydon Races these days.

FWIW their fans have had similar complaints re Anfield as we are having now with St James'.

despite going to away games for decades, last night was the first time i got to Anfield.

i despise Liverpool only slightly less than the mackems and just slightly more than arsenal.

but i have to say thats the best away ground in England I've been to.

the building has character, great facade, is clean, and beautifully lit.

loads space around it.

even inside the concourses, though dated, werent cramped.

stands close to the pitch.

strange that it has no giant screens but thats ok.

pisses on the likes of new builds like citeh, emirates and even spurs.

just a shame about who plays there.

A dated concourse/stand?

It’s just opened, we were one of the first teams to play there with that stand fully open.

Genuinely think Leeds could be one of the few clubs who could build a mega stadium like what we want to do. They have the fanbase, they have the catchment area for other events, they have the land nearby.

I think a 1 or 2 stands extension is a bit of a let down to be honest.

Expand

Their fanbase is nowhere near as big as people make out. I remember last time we played them in the Championship they sold out a home game for the first time in almost 10 years. They were averaging only 22k not all that long ago, maybe around 2018, and have never averaged more than 40k in their history. It's not a massive footballing city really.

They do have a good away following mind.

Such an overrated club, they’ve never exceeded 40k average in their history.

Their claim to be some huge club is a total myth and predicated on around a decade in the late 60s to early 70s when they were runner up more times than winners.

They're also having a stellar season when they haven't even been shit, like us, for decades anyway.

There's been a couple of games this season that haven't sold out so would be interesting to see how many of those new fans would take a season ticket if offered.

As I say they only averaged 22k as recently as 2018 which is 4k less than their current waiting list. If a load of fans want to jump on the bandwagon pretty quickly like that it usually works the other way, and they'll not need much encouragement to jump back off again.

Historically they are the 12th best supported club in the country. It's hardly remarkable.

They were playing League One football in that time.

Also like I said, since the pandemic, demand for attending events has shot up.

Leeds is always going to be a momentum club, but if they are ran right, they can attract a lot of fans. The same applies to West Ham. Get things right with them and they could be giants, but a problem if things aren’t going well.

Populous doing the stadium designs? Craig Hope had them pegged for the training ground.

Makes a lot more sense that they’re involved with the stadium. Would be funny if Hope got it mixed up and its Stadium/Populous and Training Ground/KSS.

Looks like he has. KSS designed the training centres for Palace, Leicester, Liverpool and Toulouse.
