They were playing League One football in that time. Also like I said, since the pandemic, demand for attending events has shot up. Leeds is always going to be a momentum club, but if they are ran right, they can attract a lot of fans. The same applies to West Ham. Get things right with them and they could be giants, but a problem if things aren’t going well.

The club will have outlined what’s possible on the sites provided by the feasibility studies, and will have put out a contract which everyone has to bid on. As I say they only averaged 22k as recently as 2018 which is 4k less than their current waiting list. If a load of fans want to jump on the bandwagon pretty quickly like that it usually works the other way, and they'll not need much encouragement to jump back off again. Historically they are the 12th best supported club in the country. It's hardly remarkable. Their support tends to preface it based on ‘biggest one club city’ type crack. But it’s not a one club city - it’s a two sport city. Swathes of them prefer rugby league.

Was my first time there last night also. Agree, whatever you feel about their team and their fans arrogance. It's a proper football ground. Agree, really impressed by the lighting and classic yet modern feel. Huge steep stands and not over complicated or flashy. Great atmosphere in patches also, but certainly no better than the Arsenal Semi. The stadium does help keep the sound in though. That along with some strong songs, rather than chants did make it feel quite special and certainly not at all scripted, like most clubs are becoming. It felt real and quite special, so I can see why folk speak so highly of it.

So this is probably redundant but historically if you left out league one their average since the 70s is probably lower still as their gates in league one would have been way better than what they got in the 80s. 15-16k was a good crowd for them then/ In the first six years of Premier League football they sold out (28-40k capacity) to not selling out 32 times to 82. 12 of the 32 were at 28k capacity. Someone posted that their 12th historically and that feels right.
Danh1 Posted Thursday at 22:09 Share Posted Thursday at 22:09 Hope has said in his article tonight that we are possibly playing a pre season game at the Kai Tak Stadium in Honk Kong, which was designed by Populous. ”In fact, from conversations I’ve had, the exterior of the main stadium at Kai Tak is not dissimilar to the ‘bubble wrap’-type design that has been seen on some drawings of how a potential new home for Newcastle could look, even though Populous are not involved in that project”
