I hope new guy knocks fan consultation on the head, whatever they do the fans will argue over it, fine for the badge thing, although we were never consulted previously when it changed, but the massive project that is a new ground, just fucking do it and maybe let fans decide the name.

Involve the fans and some will want a say on the taps for the bogs. As a rule us cunts, as a group, couldn't agree what colour the sky is, whatever they do, there'll be ructions from some, fan consultation ? utter waste of time.

It’s an FA and Premier League rule, and law with the new regulator.

We could though, all hypothetical though "Aramco St.James' Park Stadium" for example. But if you can get an extra few million for simply "Aramco Stadium" so be it IMO.

Why do people keeping picking Aramco? Surely it’s the last sponsor they’d use?

To him, that meant that "each team I worked for was the most important thing in that community. And the arena or stadium is situated in the centre of the city. I haven't worked for one where it was in a suburb, 15 miles from downtown. That is really important. Where ScotiaBank Arena is in Toronto, or where the Bernabeu is in Madrid, right on Castellana. Where Madison Square Garden is, the absolute heart of Manhattan. Where St. James' Park is in Newcastle. Location matters.

Positive noise on this at least.

"Hypothetical" I said, why not pick Aramco as a hypothetical but huge sponsor ???

The whole idea of the Saudi Vision 2030 or whatever year they’ve picked is to move as far away as possible from reliance on oil and diversify into other areas.

Hence why they’ll probably get involved in wind energy on the North East coast etc long term.

I appreciate it’s the big ticket name and you could end up being right but was always lead to believe that other than F1 they want to promote other companies.

Assuming, like most remaining sponsorship opportunities, we'll be waiting for Man City's case to blow apart PSR/APT (🙄) so we won't be naming after a sponsor until sometime after 2045 so...

Leazes Park Stadium makes sense. Just calling it Castle Leazes would be great.

I don't feel we have anyone iconic enough to name a whole stadium after, although the Carl Serrant MegaDome has a nice ring to it.

Yes, we do.

Let's call it the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium.

Can’t see it being anything other than Riyadh Air.

Makes sense. Though they haven’t jumped at the chance to buy the 49% of the airport that was on offer.

See how it plays out. Hoping things will be much clearer before we move into 2026.

Wasn’t really aimed at you. I did say people not you. So please don’t take it personally.

But why would they, they're an airline, running a physical airport is not close to core business.

I’m a little surprised they backed away from the opportunity, InfraBridge has put any sale on hold for the time being so maybe they’ll come back in the future. https://ionanalytics.com/insights/infralogic/infrabridge-halts-newcastle-airport-stake-sale/

Shame Riyadh Air is a daft name for an airline, doesn’t have the same ring to it as Emirates or Etihad (in my humble sportswashed opinion)

Newcastle will forever be a local/regional airport due to the population of the region which is why it'll never be a hub as I've read as suggestions for if they bought the airport.

Pretty sure I read that the Saudi’s who backed away weren’t connected to PIF at all. Just happened to be Saudi investors.
