AZ Alkmaar (A) - Date And Ticket Details Confirmed

 

NEWCASTLE United will play the 2nd leg of their last 16 UEFA Cup tie with AZ Alkmaar on Thursday, March 15.

 

The game will be played at the DSB Stadion in Alkmaar with kick-off at 7.35pm (GMT).

 

Once again supporters must fill in a special ticket application form (click on link below). Tickets are priced at £19 and the closing date for all applications is 5pm, Saturday, March 3.

For the home leg of this tie on Thursday, March 8 (PLEASE NOTE KICK-OFF 7.30pm), supporters are reminded that tickets for this game will go on general sale from the SJP Box Office on Thursday, March 1 and online at nufc.co.uk.

 

The fixture at Charlton Athletic on Saturday, March 17, may move to Sunday March, 18, although the club are awaiting confirmation from the Premier League regarding this.

Hi lads, Im an Everton fan. Hope you dont mind me posting on your forum.

 

As you may or may not be aware, we got Alkmaar in the UEFA today.

 

How many tickets did you lot get when you played them in March? Was it hard to get tickets? I assume it was because of the capacity of their ground?

 

What about going in their end? Can you get tickets easily or from people outside the ground?

 

Any tips would be much appreciated.

we got about 1,500 - 2,000 i think it was

i went and you should be ok for getting a ticket if you have been to a few away games with your season ticket (if u have one)

excellent atmosphere, nice little ground but its miles out of town centre and train station

Stay in Amsterdam and travel in a few hours before.

NUFC organised coaches for supporters who got tickets via the club to meet them at the train station going there then to bus directly back to Amsterdam straight after. You CAN easily use local transport to get from train station to the ground but getting back to the train after the game might mean you miss the last train to the 'dam.

 

Those drinking local prior to the game will confirm that the locals caused a bit of bother so if not being a hoolie is your thing then don't drink local.

 

The ground is modern if not a bit small, we only got 1000 tickets IIRC. It holds 19k but they created a decent atmosphere mainly by giving out plastic clapper thingemy-bobs.

Staying in Amsterdam is a better option but we stayed right opposite the station in a decent B&B type place. The walk back from the match was chaos though.

 

They shut the car park gates so we had top walk about a mile to get about 20 yards from where we started. There were no taxis or signposts to the centre and we just guessed. After about 40 mins we walked smack into their fans kicking off with the Police who were stopping them getting the Toon fans wating for the train. We had to get escorted to the hotel by 2 policemen on bikes.

 

Decent place but nowt special.

I stopped in Alkmaar.

 

It's obviously a lot smaller and quieter than The Dam, but there's a place called the kaasmarkt (or something similar!) in the centre where there's a few bars. That's where the trouble was when we played them. It was fine all afternoon with both sets of fans having banter, then it boiled over a bit and there was 5 - 10 minutes of mayhem. Not something you'd lik to be caught up in, it settled down though, and we had a few more. I wouldn't take the bairns, and I'd keep your wits about you. You'll sense if the atmosphere is turning.

 

If you decide to stop in The Dam be aware of the train times. They're fairly regular and run late but if you get kept in after the match (more than likely) you run the risk of missing the last one.

 

Enjoy it, you'll have a good time.

We didn't get tickets but travelled over. We left Amsterdam at about 4pm & stayed overnight in a B&B just over the road from the Station - just as well as we slept in after a heavy night & had 5 mins to catch the train!

 

We didn't see any of the trouble, which is probably why we watched the 1st half in a bar that was wall to wall Alkmaar scraves, flags etc, everyone wearing Alkmaar tops & singing very loudly & drunkenly. The three of us stood drunkenly with our toon tops on drew a good fews glares & comments but thankfully no trouble. The locals probably thought we were simply mental after the bother that had gone one.

 

Two - nil down at half time & we decided to watch the 2nd half elsewhere.

Im back again! Im all booked for Alkmaar now to watch Everton. However, I haven't got a ticket. Did any of your lads manage to get one out there and sit in there end? Where abouts did you sit if you did?

i didnt but i saw a lad who did sit in the alkmaar end, he sat right next to the toon fans and even stayed seated when they scored

impossible to get into the away end unless a steward would sneak you in through the gate for you, your all fenced in

If you are travelling over there mate there could still be a slight chance you could get a ticket.

I know that some people take tickets over there purposely for people like yourselves to sell.

You'd have to pay a few bob more for a ticket though.
