ohmelads
Think it's all wait and see at the moment. I reckon there's concrete interest in him given his quotes, the media's claims and our need for a right back, potentially one able to cover right wing with Dyer and now Solano likely to be out the door. But given Belletti's not pushing for an exit and Barca aren't desperate to sell, it could be tricky. They'll want a sizeable fee and he'll want big wages as 'Sport' is saying, and given his age and the time it might take for him to adapt, we might not reach an agreement. eggybread
Vamos, que al final el Barça y el jugador han tenido que claudicar pues la oferta azulgrana superaba los 5 millones de euros y la del jugador llegaba a los 75.000 euros semanales. roughly translated: in next the forty and eight hours the hero of Paris can stop being player of Barcelona and to file by the Newcastle. His brother and representative are in Barcelona to try to close the operation as rapidly as possible. Four million euros are the number that in the end will receive Barcelona by the lateral crossing of the Brazilian and the player will sign a contract by three years at the rate of a wage of 70,000 weekly euros. We go, that in the end the Barça and the player have had to waver because the azulgrana supply surpassed the 5 million euros and the one of the player it arrived at the 75,000 weekly euros. in the catalan paper sport.es looks like a deal is close
Guest
A lot of money, but that doesn't concern my now because it's obvious we're in a position where the club feels we can afford it...unlike 3-4 years ago.

eggybread
good signing, wouldnt be put off by his age he's like cafu in how much pace and energy he has perfectly suited to the premiership game.
ohmelads
A lot of money and wages for a 31-year old. I tend to think though that the cost of sticking with a sh*te player like Carr can be greater over the course of an entire season. Belletti will be more effective at both ends of the field, but represents a very short term solution.

Andy
No he's not. Haha, of course he is. Well, he's about on par in terms of tackling and reading of the game etc. But he actually has pace. And a bit of ability. And a brain. Three things that Carr lacks drastically.

Willow
No he's not. So Barcelona have a player worse than Stephen Carr at something with regard to football? Hmm. Of course, Andy Hunter knows everything innit. Really hope we pull this transfer off personally because he could in theory play on the wing as well as right back which again brings so much versatility. You don't get in the current Barcelona by being a total mug. We need a now player, not so much a future player who will come good in a few years time. We can get a youngster anytime. This possible signing, along with Faye, would sort out our defence completely and the only position we may need at some point is a creative midfielder but I feel thats a luxury right now as we've got in some high quality players this summer. We've not even seen Enrique, Cacapa or Barton yet :icon_biggrin:
Baggio
One of the plus points yesterday was Carr getting exposed as Championship standard. Hopefully we can push this through now as I was worried Allardyce rated Carr after a decent preseason.
