The club want a great atmosphere for Villa

Let's Make It A Black And White Spectacular!

SATURDAY sees Newcastle United's first home Premier League game of the 2007/08 season - and we want YOU to help raise the roof for Big Sam and the boys.

After beginning the campaign with a 3-1 win over Bolton Wanderers at the Reebok Stadium, the Magpies will be looking to maintain winning ways when Martin O'Neill's men arrive at St. James' Park.

To help make home advantage count, we want the stadium to be a sea of black and white on Saturday.

The club have arranged for 4,000 black and white streamers to be placed in the East Stand tomorrow. Fans will be asked to throw these when United take to the pitch just before kick off to create a spectacular black and white impact that will help inspire the players.

Fans are also reminded to take note of the new traffic arrangements around St. James's and also to remember that Saturday is the first game when the new season ticket smart cards are in operation.

So the advice is clear - give yourself plenty of time to get to your seat before kick-off. And don't forget that if you are in the ground early then there are great discount food and drink offers available on the concourse.

Half-time on Saturday will also see United pay tribute to supporter Mark Allison who has recently completed the gruelling 874-mile run from John O'Groats to Lands End for charity.

To celebrate his amazing achievement and fundraising efforts, Mark will run a lap of honour around the St. James' track at half-time.

Sounds like it will look canny to me, if a bit gimmicky. Anything to get the place jumping though, I suppose.

Shows the club are at least looking into actively promoting the atmosphere.

Good plans, bit cheesy but hey. As long as we don't get those stupid foam pointing fingers that 'Boro used to have.

Or stupid music after a goal is scored.

This is borderline, like. It'd better stop here. If I see a cheerleader or fireworks I'm gonna have to hunt down and kill Big Sam.

More to do with the new Chairman/Board than the manager, surely?

Just what I was going to say. Possibly the thing I hate most in football today.

Bolton's (I think)..... "I Feel Good".... makes my skin crawl

A half-time nosh wouldnt go amiss.

Ha ha. I can imagine scanning the menu at the refreshment stands ... "chicken balti pie, chips, sausage rolls, pasty, soapy tit wank"

Better than sticking it in the chicken balti pie.
