  1. That's how every newscaster says it over here. A week ago a friend and I spent an hour on the internet trying to find out how it was pronounced, we still don't really know. Have an idea, but we can't actually say it because it's pretty much untranslatable. Qa as in 'cap' without the p then tar as in 'target'
  2. I thought I'd post that as the advice is just about the same for every country in the world and was admittedly trolling. However - that's some fine use of statistics there Nicked this from the fountain of mis-information known as the internet "The population of Qatar on December 2nd 2010 is approximately 865,415. (Extrapolated from a population of 1,409,000 on September 13th 2009 and a population of 907,229 on October 9th 2010.)" and "The population of the UK is approximately 61,113,205.". So thats a 2% crime rate in a country with a population more than 6000% smaller. I was going off homocide rates (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_intentional_homicide_rate) but point taken. Meant 20% btw, typo!
  3. That's what our government says as well. "There is an underlying threat from terrorism in Qatar. Attacks, although unlikely, could be indiscriminate, including in places frequented by expatriates and foreign travellers. See the Safety and Security - Terrorism section. You should maintain a high level of security awareness, particularly in public places. You should avoid large gatherings and demonstrations. " Thankfully there are no events planned that will involve large gatherings of western foreign devils then... That's not street gangs like Brazil or South Africa though is it? Qatar has one of the lowest crime rates in the world, 2 or 3% of that of the UK. Qatar will have a colossal budget for this, I'm sure they'll sort security out. UK's terrorist level is on 'severe' itself at the moment. Don't know why I'm defending Qatar here as I wanted Australia to get it But some people just seem totally ill informed about the Middle East.
  4. Women can attend, alcohol rules will be relaxed for the World Cup as well. I'm not saying they should have got it, but it's not a 3rd world shithole, it's got the highest GDP/capita in the world.
  5. Qatar have gangs in the streets?! It's probably one of the safest countries in the world!
  6. Think Qatar will actually be good, they have billions and billions to throw at this.
  7. Qatar are just generally super rich, they have huge natural gas wealth- they love spending money on things like that to get publicity; they pay loads to past-their-prime foreign footballers to come and play in their local leagues.
  8. Quickest U-turn I've ever seen. The temporary stadia would be rebuilt in third-world countries.
  9. That game was hilarious, some fat guys in tracksuits would come onto the pitchand clear the lines every 10 minutes. As soon as they were done it'd all be covered again!
  10. Only semi-answers your question though.
  11. Incidents not seen by the match officials but caught on video How it works Applies to the more serious sending-off offences (violent conduct, serious foul play, spitting, offensive/insulting/abusive language or behaviour) where the match officials did not see the incident. The purpose is to put the player in the same position as if the incident had been seen by the match officials. The Compliance Department is guided by the referee’s view of whether the incident merited a dismissal. The processes mirror the timings and sanctions that would apply had any of the match officials seen the incident and the referee then sent the player off. A charge must be issued within two working days of the incident, with a response due from the club within one day of receipt of the charge. When a charge is issued, a set penalty is offered (eg. three matches for violent conduct).

Eh? Why should he have said that? He said he knows who they were.
  13. ITV will be gutted, they bought the rights to that game in the next round hoping it'd be MK Dons v AFC- could easily be Ebsfleet v Stevenage now.

  15. If he can't clash shoulders with someone without hitting them in the chest then he's clearly unstable. There had to be more to it than that.. he went through hell at Wolves and took it. He was excellent against Wolves but it doesn't really count for anything if he's going to keep missing games for doing stupid things like yesterday. He's becoming a liability.

  17. It's because the referee saw those incidents and decided not to act- the referee didn't see this one. Don't understand the persecution complex here- if you punch someone in the stomach, you are meant to get a three match ban, I can't think of any situations where this hasn't happened. It shouldn't be a challenge for a football player to not whack someone in the chops off the ball.
  18. Exactly. Can't believe some of the responses on here ffs, talk about persecution complex
