  1. This attitude is really starting to annoy me. Some fans seem to be supporting the manager more than the club these days. Keegan isn't a miracle worker, especially when he's only got s*** players to turn into world beaters. Mourinho did it with Lampard, tbf. Yeah, you're right. Lampard did nothing before Mourinho took over. My mistake. New username by the way?
  2. Remind me when this was again. Kluivert being the best example. It was never a rule though, which is where people fall down in their arguments with NE5. He doesn't seem to mind using the opposite (we've bought Guthrie, so all signings will be cheap) as an argument tbf. ...which is where he falls down in his arguments. I don't. To repeat, its signs of ambiton that I look for. And desire to get the players that the manager wants the most. I've always agreed with you on this point, and I want to see the board show it's hand and show some real intent to move the club forward. However, you can't complain about the signings of players like Guthrie until the transfer window closes. Nobody really knows if Guthrie is backup, potential, or a first teamer, so his signing isn't a sign of us not showing ambition. I'll judge the success of the transfer window when it's over. We've missed out on maybe 4 potential players, which leaves thousands more around the world to look at.

He doesn't seem to mind using the opposite (we've bought Guthrie, so all signings will be cheap) as an argument tbf. Except Kluivert is the only example you can name, and pretty much everybody was happy with it too [except me, ironically] don't let this fact get in the way of anyone's opinion though. I wasn't happy with Kluivert either. In fact it was about 70/30 in favour, but plenty of people doubted the signing would be of any benefit. Strangely though, a Kluivert/Bellamy partnership was actually very good; it was only Robson's desire to keep Shearer in the team which made Kluivert a poor signing.
  5. Reasons to be worried: 1. Steven Taylor He's going to play a key part in the team this season. 2. Owen Contract still not signed. 3.Joey Barton We actually started to look quite good in midfield towards the end of the season. How long will Barton last? 4.Viduka Older, slower, probably injured more. No replacement for him at the club currently. Needs to be replaced ASAP! (just for some balance like )

  8. Milner I would say. He's a better player than Gillespie, and look what Keegan did for him.
  9. No. All fit Given Beye Faye Taylor Enrique Jonas Butt Geremi/Milner Martins Owen Viduka Good team me think. just a couple of more player and then I think I feel sick
  10. And lastly, and earthquake in Sunderland today caused thousands of pounds worth of improvements....

Now that's cleared up do we get to hear from England's Michael Owen?
  12. Don't believe this story at all, but if we did sign him, we're certainly looking to break the top ten now, and worry about breaking the top 6 another season. I think we need to get used to a long transitional period where we sign players like Warnock and Guthrie.
  13. And 6 and a bit weeks left before the transfer window closes, but still...may as well panic eh? You think we'll leave our signings until the last minute? Isn't that our usual tactic anyway?
  14. I read that at 7.30 this morning man. Only just seen it now You said all the reports from Spain. Can we see the others now?
  15. Is that really true? I don't know how you'd measure the column inches, but there was quite a bit of fuss about Martin Jol being out of favour and then Ramos arriving. No where near the coverage of KK's return. Google: Results 1 - 10 of about 966,000 for ramos tottenham Results 1 - 10 of about 697,000 for keegan newcastle. And there's a longer association between the words "keegan" and "newcastle" than between the words "ramos" and "tottenham". To be fair, Spurs have been linked with 19 million midfielders since he took over, so that might explain the extra press
  16. I'd have no worries if Newcastle bid £18m for Keane. Not going to get a more proven scorer in this league for cheaper (apart from Cole, Yorke or Fowler I guess).
  17. link? Its in Spanish you still want it? It? It? I want ALL spanish reports tbh
  18. He was head and shoulders above everyone in the reserves at the time but was never going to break through in central midfield when the squad contained Sissoko, Alonso, Gerrard and Hamann (later replaced by Mascherano) and central midfield has been our strongest area for a number of years. He likes to retain possession and has a good eye for a pass. He played very well down at Southampton and more than held his own at Bolton despite the Megson-induced change back to boot-it-high-boot-it-long football. Could maybe do with a year on a steak and guinness diet to build himself up. I think he'll do well for you. And certainly better than some of your midfielders did last season. A ringing endorsement indeed. So he played better than the worst midfield in the league?

Please, don't kid yourself. IF Arsenal come in for him, he's gone.
  20. And yet no one is dead or anything. What do you want to talk about then? Legitimate transfer stories would be a good start, maybe ones with a good source to back them up. Where is this one from? Sun, Mirror, or maybe Tottenham Hotspuds very own Daily Mail... ! You'd prefer a forum where people don't post then? Ye, that's what I said..... Clearly not, I just find that certain people get a bit carried away with stories published in some national newspapers. I mean the Mirror & Sun.. Come on, do people atcually read those things!! I'm not claiming (for example) George Caulkin in the Times is the oracle, but at least he is more reliable than most. But this whole forum is based on mindless speculation. If people only posted fact then there would be about 3 posts a week.

  22. I've never hated any of our players. I've been frustrated that some of our managers have signed them and picked them, but it's hardly their fault. I loved Paul Kitson though. Not a great player compared to some of the players we've had, but he was a good bloke.
