    Shola Ameobi

Makes you wonder what offers he got last Summer. Championship clubs or a second division Turkish side and Shola choose Turkey? Did he fancy some sun? Were the Premiership clubs who weren't interested in Shola during the Summer impressed by his time in the Turkish second division? They must have been to be interested now. It's bizarre. He could well have been offered very good money, only for it not to materialise once he was there.

    NUFC finances

Financially, folks watching on the telly are now three times more important than the people going to the games.
  3. As long as he can drip feed Rangers enough cash until the end of the season (with his cost-cutter in chief already in place) then he can get on with the business of selling NUFC and that's why I suspect we are dragging our heels over a new manager. Rangers can't raise equity and no-one else is going to loan them money while Ashley is the majority creditor, meanwhile the club bleeds millions each month. He's got this one sewn up.
  4. When did Swansea and Cardiff move their clubs from one city to another?
  5. He knows they won't be able to pay him back. This is a 'loan to own' investment. Once Rangers fail to repay him, he has the physical assets required to run a football club. As he has security there is no need to force administration to take control of the assets, he simply sets the enforcement process in motion regardless of the state of play of any other debts within the business. Then when the football club runs out of cash for the Nth time and the sale (or admin) processes begin, he makes his token bid for the club. No-one else will bother bidding, as he has no intention of letting any other bidder use his stadium or his training ground, so he can be the only show in town. Even if he can't buy the current club, he is the most likely candidate to set up Rangers 3 and begin again back in the third division.

    Jak Alnwick

If Krul is back in training next week, there's no way we'll spend a penny on another keeper.

    Jak Alnwick

Blyth have a centre-forward who has played in goal on several occasions over the years when the keeper has gone off injured or been sent off, and he's better than Alnwick.
  8. Stopping the ball is pretty much a pre-requisite at any level.
  9. With Cisse banned, maybe he'll play up top with Perez?
  10. Pardew's not keen on Europe, mind.
  11. People genuinely think the reason Robson was binned was because 5th wasn't enough, which of course is bollocks. But say it enough, and it becomes historical fact.
  12. This man is clinically braindead.
  13. With a bit of luck, knobbers like him are sufficiently disgusted to fuck off and not bother going to games.
  14. They don't seem the slightest bit concerned that the majority of fans from his previous club think that he's a shit manager That's because we all demand CL every season, or something like that. NUFC have got stick in the past for turning to former players for managerial inspiration but from what I've read, Pardew scored a goal for Palace, apart from that he was shit. By that reckoning I think it's time to bring in Nicky Papavasilou as boss, Mike Hooper as No2 as he once hit that bar against Everton.
  15. Despite all the postings of NUFC fans on their board, Palace fans seem happy with this. We're certainly happy about it. Everybody's happy, win-win.

  17. To not let him take charge today would weaken our negotiating position. We'll agree a compo deal in principle with Palace, let him agree terms and just as the press get ready to head to the big unveiling, ask for more. No different to any of our deals for players.
  18. In the last 38 PL games, Palace have got 3 more points than NUFC yet have peddled two managers and we're the ones with over-demanding fans? Luckily today's win nudged us ahead of Birmingham and Blackpool in that list, whose last 38 PL games of course saw them relegated.
  19. If Ashley could get some decent cash for Pardew, he'd take it. There are plenty of unemployed managers out there somewhere.
  20. A lot of very decent players who in earlier seasons would be playing for the upper-mid table teams are now sitting on the bench for, in the reserves of, or out on loan from a clutch of super-squads. The PL improved in the 90s by widening its catch of players and bringing better players into the division, now real game-changers are hoarded by two sides in particular, leaving everyone else with mediocre grafters and little genuine class.

The problem with this approach of course is that you don't spend much time looking at players who don't really show any promise until they are 12-14, or even those who aren't that into football but turn out to be quite good at it. That is why so many academy players plummet through the leagues, by the time they've stopped training full time and have to get a job to balance with playing, their fitness and strength drop and it becomes clear that the players at the non-league level are technically better players. Offiong was utter garbage at Blyth. Looked like he's never kicked a ball in his life. Don't even remember Brittain playing for Blyth- a look of the records show he managed a mighty three games before moving on.

Brayson was quality in the Conference North when he was at Blyth and different to the others in that he'd carved out a decent full-time career in League 2 / Conference before heading north. For a lot of the former academy players, once they stop full-time training their strength and fitness drop, exposing pretty ordinary technical skills and they tumble through the divisions.

Imagine being a KA fan in 2008, hearing you'd re-signed him for the 7th time at the age 36. And then seeing him go on to make a further 60 appearances for the club. I'm guessing he's hopping between summer and winter leagues in order to keep a wage coming in. Used to be quite a few non-league players who would go out to Singapore or Hong Kong to play over there for a few months, then come back.
