  1. Delighted to hear the away end sing for Scott Bell in the 10th minute. Gone but not forgotten!
  2. Genuinely, knowing the chaps who run Blyth, only police adivce would have them switch games. They played Blackburn at CP. They'll tak anyone at home. But hats off to the current squad. I think at a time where NUFC symblise all the shit in football, BSAFC represent all the good. I look forward to cheering them on in grantham in a couple of weeks!
  3. Hooper was terrible. His finest moment came against Spurs when saving a pen (Klinsmann perhaps?) with his legs as he dived the wrong way, then celebrated like he'd won the league.

Jonathyn Quinn recalled from his spell at Blyth, although he wasn't a regular starter there.
  5. It would be refreshing if no company made a bid for the rights to show it. The whole concept of the Qatar world cup is the end of it all as far as I'm concerned. A tiny country with no heritage, no stadiums, an oppressive climate and a shocking human rights record. It should be the last world cup.

Hartlepool vs Blyth should certainly be on. Very strong rumour the Blyth game will be Friday night. Great news if it's televised, £60k is a huge amount of money for the club. I suspect Worcester's trip to Scunthorpe will also get coverage.
  7. Keep an eye out for Carlisle getting a man sent off on the Football League Show, SSN showed highlights earlier on and it was bordering on an execution.
  8. It's absolutely incredible that he's able to take personal punts through a public listed company. It's not a personal punt, It's a very common business practice on the stock exchange and a very profitable one at that. Shady as fook to us common man, but not illegal. A major plc writing an option on another company's shares is not common at all, his approach is unprecedented. Buying an option on FX or rates where there is a need to hedge a risk yeah, but not this. He is taking the premium from a financial institution (probably Goldmans as they did the Debenhams one) and assuming the full risk of Tesco's share price all the way down to zero. There is no business justification for the transaction, despite claims of a 'working relationship' (though that is no excuse). This is clearly the decision of one man and his minority shareholders will just have to swallow it or sell up.

Means he can train as per usual with the Academy squad and not have to travel, while getting experience of a few more competitive games. Harsh reality is that there are so few pro clubs within the area and limits on loans per club mean there's not much option for farming out players if you still want them to train FT (or close to it).
  11. He walked past me years ago, he was on the phone. Hilarious squeaky mockney drawl. Like this guy from The Bill http://img3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20070323190925/thebill/images/1/15/Mickeywebb.jpg
  12. Three games away from becoming our 7th longest-serving manager in terms of games played. If he lasts until Christmas he'll be 6th.
  13. If you like proper beer, you need to go for a few in the Post Office Vaults and the Pure Bar, both of which are pretty much round the corner from the Wellington. I absolutely love the Wellington. Not been for ages, think the Post Office had just opened but didn't get the chance to pop in. Will put that right next time round.
  14. What a game this is, 3-2 Sociedad.
  15. It has been pissing down in London since yesterday morning and only stopped about two hours ago, imagine the weather there will be the same.
  16. Nice use of language in there… The sort of fee you'd expect Fenerbache to pay rather than Roma.
  17. Bellamy offered more to our them team than Ben Arfa does to ours today, but there is an obvious comparison between Souness and Pardew in the situations. Lazy, low-intelligence men incapable of adapting their management style to anyone who thinks differently than they do.
  18. What was that, two games? He was already finished when he got here, otherwise Fergie wouldn't have been so keen to peddle him.

    U23s & Academy

Highlights from Friday's game are now online on Blyth's official Youtube channel. To be clear, the official channel holds all rights to the games they show. https://www.youtube.com/user/BSAFCTV/videos
  20. It's not at all that unusual to have a couple of first team / fringe players in for games like this, it used to happen a lot under SBR who knew that just sending out a couple of familiar faces and getting word around would put a few hundred on the gate. A few times NUFC sent out two XIs to different games. SPL side St Mirren played a good chunk of their first team squad at Blyth a couple of weeks ago- NUFC have played foreign amateur teams on tour in the recent past- not sure why it always seems so terribly beneath first-teamers to turn out against a local team.

    Lockwood Cup

I could definitely be around for the 18/19 October, no chance anyone is getting me playing though!

An NUFC XI will play Blyth Spartans at Croft Park on Friday night, ko 7.30 and admission £5 / £2. Likely to be a young line-up but wouldn't be surprised to see a few fringe players thrown in there as well.
  23. Dibble...now there's a name from the early years of the Merlin sticker collection. Let's hope he's a bit better between the sticks than his dad was.
