Neil Fitzmaurice and Dave Spikey wrote most of the funny bits. The first series contained a lot of Spikey's stand-up routine. Compare it to Max & Paddy, for which Kay disposed of his former buddies. Shite. Kay did some good comedy, but he couldn't expand on it and became a one-trick pony (see Bill Bailey).

Naaa, it hasn't got Peter Kaye in. Urgh, it's not written by him (mainly) therefore it's actually pretty funny.

Keeper Attacks Supporter and Match Abandoned (Dutch Cup Game -AJAX/AZ)
Matt replied to Crumpy Gunt's topic in Football
Why not? The fan appeared out of nowhere- my first reaction would be to disable the intruder to any extent possible. As said earlier, the guy could have been carrying a knife of anything. If someone jumped me out of nowhere, I'd try to kick the guy in the head too, who wouldn't? Maybe he should have whipped out the Queensbury rules. -
Assisted by our threat to report PSG after they messed us around for George Weah!

I'm with you on that, Mick. Best had some good games earlier in the season against some of the league's lesser lights and I thought his selection on Saturday was a bit of a no-brainer. But I didn't think he had a huge impact on the game compared to Ba who was a real handful. Just goes to show it's a game of opinions. I'd love to know how Pardew really sees his strikerforce lining up in the longer-term. If another striker arrives in January it's most likely Best closest to the exit as his early season form will ensure interested parties. Ba is the only nailed on starter, no-one seems to have his full confidence as the second striker.

We went down by a point- there are dozens of things that 'could have kept us up'. Also, all these people saying 'relegation was a good thing'. Apart from the whole £40m down the shitter (which one day will be settled from player sales), it was belting, aye.
-
It doesn't really matter about the actual amount he's being paid- it's more that the club want to make it clear that they are taking a hard line to contracts and if the player doesn't like it, he moves on. I'd be surprised if he was really asking for massive money as I don't see anyone paying it- but we simply won't countenance caving in to a player's demand. To do so not only means paying one player more, but also weakens the clubs standing for future negotiations. I reckon he could well be off in January, £4-5m would be seen as a good profit for a position where we have cover elsewhere in the squad.

I don't know about you, but I like going to the match to cheer on good players, rather than celebrate the year's profitability.

Luton got clobbered with a larger penalty for that reason. They could easily lose 15 or 20. Surely the FA need to do something to stop clubs being gobbled up by mysterious offshore holding companies? It is easy to do- they need to implement a licence-holder system which protects security from being taken over shares or assets of the club against liabilities of the parent companies.

He's a footballer and has an agent after a slice of a signing-on fee. It would certainly be a turn-up if he showed such awareness. Simpson appears to have got a lot of attention and we could probably get a decent fee for him and make a good turn on his purchase, so we'll sell, it's just how we work. Sell high, buy low.

I thought he only donated his eyes?

Apparently the helicopter was there due to someone throwing themselves from a height down on Blyth quay and was nothing to do with the football at all. Must admit, did seem a bit overkill!
-
That he's worth f*** all? Righto. It's easy for him to say that now aint it. Wasn't worth f*** all when he was banging them in every week for us thats why liverpool wanted him so badly. Plus all that nonsense at the time about desperately not wanting to sell but andy handing in a transfer request etc is all proven bollocks then if these quotes are true. He did hand in a transfer request though. yeah but if these quotes are true then they clearly got the best deal they could then went to andy and told him "your sold" There could realistically never be any doubt that this was the case,Carroll still took the money over refusing to leave like, but no footballer ever stays where they're not welcome. The fact remains we didn't have to accept any bid though. Alan Smith? He said 'footballer'
-
Nope, Champ and PL sides in the 3rd.
-
The helicopter was oot before. No idea if it was for that, The helicopter was to guide in the Gateshead buses. Not sure why people thought there would be trouble, there's actually very little history between the sides, but Gateshead seem particularly averse to all things green and white.

You'll be in good company, there are usually at least 500-600 local hoppers for games like this one.

How on earth do you come to this conclusion? We can't have repaid 'debt' because the debt is held by Ashley and as Dekka keeps saying 'Mike hasn't taken a penny out of the club'
-
League rules dictate what can and can't be sponsored. Although I fully expect the PL to yield to the lure of more coin.

How much profit was made last season? We spent something like 0.8 million net in the summer. Why not spend some of this expendable cash in the summer in the run up to a new season? We lost £4.something million didn't we? Operating profit. Very quiet on the number after player trading.

Why does it need to be done? It is the biggest revenue raiser any club has. Having actually worked in this field before it brings in huge amounts of money. I was more aiming at the fact that if everyone does this, everyone will spend it on players. Players will earn more money and no-one will be any more competitive than they were before. It just continues the wage-price spiral. The FFP rules should solve that issue and make sure this doesn't happen. Hold on. How exactly? FFP doesn't restrict absolute wages, it restricts wages relative to turnover. So absent outside equity, clubs are forced to generate cash through other means.

Is financial fair play going to affect clubs outside of European competition?
-
Llambias said it will bring in an extra 8-10m. I said 'how'. With the extra revenue from SportsDirect. Are you stupid? Sports Direct contributes nothing to the NUFC. 'Cept for the 100m+ put in to cover the debt. Do you understand the concept of a loan? Didn't know SportDirect was a bank. Ashley put the money in, not Sports Direct.

Is it just me or does the photo gallery on the BBC Football include a picture of Elland Road?
