    Dan Gosling

What are these delusions that you aren't under? There is quite a difference between picking up a free agent and signing a player on a free after the player has refused to sign a new contract and left on a Bosman. Davids, Falmini, Ballack, Sol Campbell etc (no I'm not comparing Gosling to these players, just highlight that good players don't always command a transfer fee).

  4. Yet he is much better on the ball than Williamson who often panics under pressure and hoofs it out gifting possesion back to the opposition. Williamson has put it out in the last few games - quite rightly too IMO. Brum and Blackburn are the kind of opposition that feed off bullying defenders into mistakes. If you put it out, get your team in shape and them the ball - they haven't the foggiest of how to break you down. Hence two clean sheets. He and Colo generally have much better footballing philosophies in terms of passing and possession though. Taylor is far more brainless as a defender IMO. You are wrong tbh, Taylor is a much better footballer than Williamson, I like Williamson and want to keep him here and as he is a decent defender but Taylor is much better with the ball at his feet. Putting it out is all well and good against teams like that but against the better teams they will punish you at this level.
  5. doubt it'll be a sell out but most probably the more expensive tickets will be left. edit, you must have a debit/visa etc card which you can use ? theres not much risk in the club having your details. I only have Finnish Visa Electron, I doubt it will do. If I purchase tickets online, I have to have the credit card with me when I collect the tickets and I doubt that any of my friends will borrow me their credit card, because it would mean that I would go with their credit card to my trip... There is an option to use Electron when booking tickets on nufc.co.uk, you may as well try.

  7. I was only 16 at the time yet night of the rain is possibly still the most drunk I've ever been in life, to this day I do not know how I got back to my hotel. There was Geordies everywhere that day, must have been 10,000 in Barcelona, I remember the police coming into Plaça Reial and closing all the bars and restaurants. http://img403.imageshack.us/img403/6341/sbrw.jpg Brilliant photo that.

  9. The Camp Nou... when's that photo from? 2002? Yeah, the game that was called off due to the rain and then played the next day, Shola scored. We were at the airport, about to go home, I was with my Dad and he split up with his then partner over the game. They worked together, she had to go home for a meeting, he had the authority to just sack off his plans for the next 2 days and stay out in Barcelona with me for the match.

The Ipswich connection was surely to do with Bobby not Charlie Woods. Probably both seeing as Woods played for Ipswich and worked for them as both a coach and a scout.

I think I'm right in saying he's attended a respectable number of games to be fair, especially given his circumstances - plenty of locals with less to their name. I didn't know he was a Southerner until you told us he was. It's not as though he supported Chelsea last week, Man Utd the week before and is just playing political games on here for a laugh, though. Saying that, I suppose he's more mental than most Cockneys to be hanging round here getting belts given he hasn't got £200m at stake. Not all Newcastle supporters are season ticket holders, in fact most aren't. That's not the point, imagine someone without kids of their own telling you how you should be treating your own kids "for the better of society" - you'd be aggrieved that they had the barefaced cheek to do it. Again, I challenge you to find somewhere where I have said that people should boycott home games. In fact, despite a number of people suggesting it - it's something that I or we have not endorsed. Agreed, and good on you for that. Though you have pushed for a boycott of Sports Direct, and more importantly, you've also said you would look at the possibility of boycotting all club merch and matchday sales, which, as I've said previously, does nothing but harm the club in my eyes. Both Chris and I feel very strongly about the "sponsorship" of our club by Sports Direct. We will be discussing (and in Chris' words before I get cut to pieces) ... • Fans believe the continuing and ever-increasing sponsorship packages which SportsDirect hold at St. James Park are degrading the stadium. • The Gallowgate roof • The stadium name • The logos now on the dug-out seats look awful. • Can the club reveal how these transactions work? Does the club actually benefit financially from money flowing from one of Mike Ashley’s holdings to another? We do support a boycott of Sports Direct, however, in the least antagonistic way possible, on my part we have only proposed boycotts of merch, food, drink etc on here and have not made it public. We haven't encouraged it anywhere ... What have Sodexo done to warrant a boycott? f*** all. Which is why we aren't boycotting them. You openly admit you have proposed a boycott of Sodexo.

  13. No Premier League games FA Cup 6th round weekend , no Premier League games on International weekend. That a new thing? Sure previously if teams weren't involved they just played their fixtures as per normal. Wolves are playing West Brom in the league on sunday. Yes, this Sunday is isn't in March and is also only the 5th Round of the FA Cup.
  14. I have to say, not one person has said that. A mention of Pardew possibly trying to up our eventual price for him, but why not - doesn't mean Enrique didn't initiate the deal, just that Pardew's sensibly been wanting to up our eventual price for him. There are plenty people hinting at it, be it about the Twitter incident or the Carroll sale or him wanting more money or whathaveyou. When in reality, he simply wants CL football and wants to be at a bigger club. It sucks, but it's truth. A lack of ambition from the club possibly plays a part in him feeling like that though. Hopefully we will invest well in the summer and Enrique and Barton will sign new deals. I can hope. That's the thing though, I don't think we've shown a lack of ambition yet (although I expect us to). There is no lack of ambition in selling Carroll for £35m and any player in the squad that claims there is, is just looking for an excuse. The lack of ambition is not reinvesting the money. Which we haven't even had a chance to do yet. I agree but I still think that sale may have lead to the likes of Enrique questioning their long term futures and if that lies here at NUFC. We have a good core here and if we add to it well this summer with the money available I don't see why we can't really push on. Just hope Enrique can buy into that. Some people are acting as if he has been sold already.

  16. Well said Mr. Barton. I get the feeling he is going to wait and see what happens in the summer before signing a new deal (or not).
  17. Yep. Slightly conspiratorial, but he's one of our more intelligent players, so I do wonder if that tweet about 'our chairman' was not so accidental, either. What did he say? I only remember him getting into trouble for revealing he was injured for the game at Spurs.
  18. It is pretty tight given the surrounding buildings but I believe they have previously been given planning permission to expand to 40,000. They are only averaging just under 28,000 in a 35,000 capacity stadium as it is.
  19. Had a look at him in the World Cup, average at best.
