It certainly would have been a bold move to make him captain, but with his two court cases hanging over him I really don't think it would have been a good idea. As has already been mentioned we don't really have anyone that stands out as captain material.

With good young players it is a lot easier to get a work permit, Man United have just signed 2 young South Americans in January but they are not allowed to be registered due to the under 18 Brazil transfer rule.
