Thought to be 12m Euro up front, raising to 15m Euro depending on future success. Not exactly cheap for someone whose contract runs out next year. It also means that Makaay is going to be put up for sale now...

Didn't you know, Bayern were desperate to sign him... Anyway, no good news to me. He is a hot-blooded, diving dickhead, who is more likely to receive a red card or feign injuries than to create anything productive. I WAS WAITING.

Not sure, our take over comes much earlier into the season than the Villa one. I was working in Birmingham at that time and the takeover took until August to be completed. At Newcastle most of has already gone through and Ashley can already be involved in the decision making.
-
Bayern "let" him got because his contract ran out and he refused to sign a new contract. Liverpool let him go when they already had a midfield stocked with Alonso, Sissoko, Hamann, Gerard. Lyon later signed him for 6.25m Euro. Edit: And he was a hit at Lens for two full seasons.

15 games in the league and 5 in Europe, most of them as a sub though. He was a youth player at Bayern before he moved to Liverpool and played in their second team. I remember Bayern trying everything to hang on to him. I think it depends on the fee. The rumoured 8.5m Euro from L'Equipe are probably a bit too exepensive, but we definitely could do with another genuine defensive midfieler (and boot out Emre hopefully).

Why should we offer Martins a new deal? Or better: Why should Martins sign a new deal? He will only sign one if we offer him better terms (especially in return for deleting the clause). I don't know on what wages Martins is, but I don't think it is a good idea to improve his contract - regardless of what you think about his performances so far. The increase in wages wouldn't balance out the release clause as I don't think anyone would offer more than 13m for Martins anyway. So I can't see how an improved contract would make any sense.

I'd rather call it the "Hell, I didn't get the ball, what am I supposed to do now" routine... The best you might get out of it is a free kick.
-
Never noticed it that much with him. Terry often uses his arms and holds the player, something Taylor also likes to do, but the clueless jumping stuff rather than turning around and catching the player is ridiculous.
-
He has to learn to stop his jumping jack impersonation when a player runs past him though. He often just spreads his arms and legs and tries to stop the player by this.

And now for something completely different... ...Dortmund have now signed Robert Kovac from Juventus on a free instead.
-
Now you are hysterical...

That was a rumour carried for a couple of days in the Turkish press, that was denied by Milan yesterday.
-
lets hope it's true Chief executive has confirmed that they dropped their interest after new talks with PSG.
-
The local news in Dortmund are now apparently carrying the story that a move to Dortmund has been rejected with the club not being able to agree a fee with PSG (last offer thought to be 3.6m Euro).
-
Not that I am aware of. well maybe not full......how about a little quarter column on the 3rd inside back page perhaps ? Not even that. It's not in the online editions of the local Dortmund newspapers. There is also a huge forum just dealing with transfer rumours (www.transfermarkt.de) where normally people post all kind of news from the papers. Today they are just talking about the Daily Mail rumour.

Because he hasn't passed the medical yet. The original itk-source on Skunkers only said that medical and unveiling will be next week. Gejon messed about with the rumour a bit.

So, it's first of all Craig A. who faces legal proceedings with Sam rather being a witness. Bit of a sensational story in an attempt to make at least something out of the very vague allegations in the report. I bet the Daily Mail is still a bit pissed off that their announced takeover didn't happen in January...

We should look at Corluka, i've heard many positive things about him although admittedly never seen him play. Is he playing in the under 21's atm? He's Croatian and already a full international. Played against England. I have never paid interest in his performances though. I just know from some Croatians that he is really rated highly at home (but they rate more or less everyone very highly).
-
Dortmund have had a 4m Euro bid for Corluka from Zagreb rejected. So it depends now on if they increase the offers for either Rozenhal or Corluka or look for a different player.
-
There was a bit in Dortmund's regional press yesterday with original quotes from Dortmund officials. They say they might seek new talks with PSG (indicating that they haven't been in contact recently). According to them they know that Rozenhal is still interested in a move to Dortmund. They describe the transfer as "not very likely" though. http://www.westline.de/fussball/bvb/index.php

He may very well be a Chelsea player, but I wouldn't believe a few websites. Where would we be now if we believed everything skysports.com told us? Which seconds later is carried by teamsquawk and similar sites...

Just got 28 a couple of months ago and is already nearly 30. Players really do age quickly nowadays...

I can't even imagine how you get to being that ITK. He saw him in some gym/sports club in Didsbury I think. So he claims anyway. He should write for ohmelads.com. Has to work on his Geordie credentials though...
