    Mido

No. Might swap him for Parker though.....
  2. are you taking this a tad too serious......without really having a clue whats going on aswell come on then expert of all things nufc .lets have your rundown on the situation instead of putting others down who have to get information from the media etc (which in all honesty is made up to sell papers etc) you don't get it biggsy,i won't give a rundown of what i think is going on cos i haven't got a clue what's going on behind those closed doors...i don't know who we've tried to get if anyone,or how much we can spend,or if the club goes about it the right way...and i'll bet no-one on here has..i make my mind up on evidence and if i don't have any evidence to go on then i'll keep shtum till i get some. I wish some others would do the same.....
  3. Exactly, if we were going to make loan deals why weren't they lined up and brought in on New Years Day (a la Henrik Larsson). Of course that would require foresight and intelligent planning. Maybe the club has been trying to make permanent signings of a couple of quality players (we have signed quality players before). Maybe the club has been trying to persuade a club that doesn't want to part with one of their important players to do so mid-season? Maybe that plan hasn't come off, a club doesn't manage to sign every player they target, especially in January. Maybe the selling club are over-pricing their players due to it being mid-season and our known injury problems? Maybe going for loan players is plan B rather than make permanent signings the manager doesn't want? Maybe.. maybe.. maybe.. but to most people clearly possible and in fact, very, very likely. For those who think we never sign quality players, or even just sign players, I suggest you all go to nufc.com and take a look at the list of players brought in and the money that's gone out doing just that in recent times.
  4. Decent article, but it seems SJH is beyond criticism.
  5. I've already said exactly the same in a different post. Welcome to an hour ago. I could go on for hours about why British players cost more: selling to direct rivals, etc. - but you'll never agree, even though it's perfectly logical that they get sold for more cash. Carrick was integral to Spurs, hence the big price - it would have been even more if Carrick hadn't wanted to move so badly. You've completely missed the point there mate, which is exactly what I have been saying all along in my posts. You cannot compare Martins at £10m to Bale at £10m because there are literally dozens of variables that are involved in any one transfer, some of which I've already pointed out. It's not as simple as ability = value, it never has been. It depends on factors such as: - The player's current role in the team. (Integral player = bigger price, like Carrick... surplus to requirements, like Martins/Emre.) - The player's international experience. (International caps = bigger price.) - The relationship between the selling club and the buying club (local rivals/divisional rivals/no relationship.) - The number of clubs interested in the player. (More clubs = bigger price.) - The player's own desire to stay or go. (Wants to leave = smaller fee.) - The financial situation of the clubs involved: does the selling club need the money? (Lower price?) The list that determines a player's price is endless, that's what I'm getting at. There are always reasons why people get bought for the prices they demand. Some turn out to be worth the money, plenty don't. But at the point when the transfer is made the player is WORTH that amount, it is then up to him to prove his worth or to show he WAS overpriced. Good post and I couldn't agree more. Some will find it all a bit too complicated though. You make an offer and you get the player, that's all there is to it really. If you don't get the player it's because Fred is fat.
  6. Wouldn't sell Duff but might consider a deal involving King, who is one of only a couple of Spurs players worth thinking about bringing in. Mido? Keane? Malbranque? Don't make me laugh.
  7. What?!... Babayaro is an absolutely aweful defender! And for all we know at this point, Bale could be an even worse one. Ramage, Edger and Hunttington are all better at leftback then Baba so I really don't see how that's possible.
  8. why? because he scores goals??? Ameobi is a donkey and belongs the beach, as I've been saying for what seems like years now. For however long it is I've been saying it, it's too bloody long. The sooner he's shipped out the better.
  9. Where do you propose to find the money to do that?
  10. Howaythelads

    Peter Ramage

I actually agree. There's been a lot of hype over Taylor before he made the breakthrough, obviously everyone wants him to be top class, but right now he's a potentially decent player and that's all he is.
  11. Howaythelads

    Peter Ramage

I hope he's sold by then, tbh.

  13. Bramble isn't great but he's better than Ramage. Ramage is shite, that he may be better at CB than he was at LB doesn't mean he's any good. He's not good enough in either position.
  14. I think Roeder's version is more accurate, tbh. Think 'agents'.
  15. Think of Craig Bellamy like pace, mate.
  16. You'd wear them if I was playing against you, mate. :winking: That bad at tackling? In point of fact, I wasn't bad when I was younger but I was never much good at tackling. Think of Shola Ameobi tackling and you'll get the idea.
  17. Warnock!! Can't believe some of shite being touted around as possible targets by people on this forum. Absolutely shite player.
  18. You'd wear them if I was playing against you, mate. :winking:
  19. Seriously? You'd pay £7m for Anton Ferdinand!
  20. htl you git!..beat me to it whilst i was trying to work out how to quote on this 1980's away strip style new fangled forum. It looks like shite, doesn't it!
  21. http://home.skysports.com/transfers.aspx?cpid=8 Looking at some of those moves I don't see many clubs improving, not that signings guarantee an improvement anyway. The £50m wasted by Souness is evidence of that and then take a look at Chelsea with Shevchenko and Bollock. We need to boost the squad but we need to do it by signing players who are an improvement on the first choice XI, thus forcing a current first choice player into becoming a squad player. If that can't be done this month I'd rather we sign nobody and wait until the summer, there is no point in signing players who aren't better than those we already have just to get the numbers up.
