  1. We all seem to be forgetting that we were an absolute fucking shables on the pitch last season. No direction, no organisation, no heart and a lot of players who simply didn't give a fuck. Wolves, Birmingham, Burnley (at the start of the season), Stoke etc have all shown that you can get results in the Premier League, without ruining yourself financially, if you are well organised and resolute. And those happen to be the two biggest attributes we've shown all season. 10 goals conceded at home all season doesn't happen by accident. My doubts about Colo still exist because of the regularity with which he was shown up last season but if we continue to defend as a team he won't be exposed so often. IMO we need the following players: Proven premier league CB Creative midfielder First choice right back Backup left back Proven top level striker (not necessarily proven in the Premier League) At least one proven winger I reckon we can pick up half of these on free transfers so whatever budget we have can be used on 2-3 quality additions.
  2. After what happened in January I doubt anyone knows the real figure Hughton will be given. The club kept their cards very close to their chests, ocassionally mentioning figures of £1m and talking about loan deals, and then spent around £5m. They'd be daft to start announcing transfer budgets because it allows other clubs to hold us to ransome so I don't think we'll ever know. I just hope we're going to be pleasantly surprised.
  3. Firstly I'm looking forward to a bit of wheeling and dealing this summer. I love it when we sign players I don't know a lot about but turn out to be really good. It's a shit load more exciting and interesting than signing the likes of Duff, Butt, Smith etc. After that i'm looking forward to a season without much in the way of expectation. If we stay up i'll be chuffed to bits and anything else is a bonus. The atmosphere is back and we've got a group of players that I genuinely like for the first time in ages. Fucking bring it on!
  4. I'd love us to have another go at signing Curtis Davies from Villa. He seems to be spending most of his time on the bench and he fits the bill in terms of age and ability. Not sure O Neill would let him go though
  5. I just think he's too old and too expensive. Doesn't fit in at all with out new transfer policy
  6. Fuck him, he made his bed so let him lie in it. I loved him when he played for us but he jumped ship when we needed him most. He's too old anyway
  7. I've tried Googling it but i can't find one
  8. Likewise, i've always liked him as a player. Could be the answer to our creative CM dilemma as well as useful back up for the left wing
  9. I still have my doubts about Colo mainly due to the regularity and ease with which he was shown up last season. Having said that, our midfield was fucking garbage and offered no protection whatsoever to the back four. Hopefully, with the organisation Hughton and Calderwood have instilled plus the addition of a mobile midfield general, the CBs won't be exposed so often. The thought of either Nicky Butt or Alan Smith featuring in our Central midfield next season makes me want to weep
  10. I'd like to see something like this: ...............................Harper Behrami........Coloccini........Williamson........Enrique Routledge.....Barton........Scharner.......Guitierrez .....................Carroll........C Cole We'd be pretty dangerous down both flanks and, with Scharner, we'd have another option for CB.
  11. He's one of the only players we have in the squad who has proven premiership quality. He hasn't shown it for a long time but he has performed at a decent level in the top league.
  12. I just read on Twitter that they had heard Martin O'Neill had left Aston Villa.
  13. fyp. Talksport are a fucking joke. How are they still allowed to broadcast? They're like the Daily Sport of radio
  14. Fuck me, it's started already.
  15. Reports reaching Talksport that Martin O'Neill has left Aston Villa. Probably bullshit!
  16. There are a lot of decent players out of contract this summer so hopefully we can snap up a couple of free transfers as well as spending a bit.
  17. Fuck it! We're going up in better shape than when we came down with a decent up and coming manager and a young, hungry squad. New shirt sponsor, hopefully a new ground sponsor and fantastic crowds. Although I wasn't happy when we went down i've loved this season. By hook or by crook we're in good shape. Ashley is still a cunt but we're on the right track.
  18. Couldn't happen to a nicer bloke.
  19. There's an article here from the ever-reliable Sun Newspaper http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/2912843/Sven-Goran-Erikssons-2m-deal-with-Ivory-Coast.html
  20. If he, or any of the training staff for that matter, had any sense - Nolan would be on some sort of training schedule this summer to get in shape for the next season. He's a good influence and talker on the pitch - I just wish he could run for more than 20 mins. I don't want to get hung up on the Nolan fitness debate again (more appearances than anyone else this season) but I don't think it'd be possible in a genetic sense for him to change from the heavy set lump that he is now to a svelt athlete. He's always been "fat". Andy Reid

    PROMOTIONOMETER

Fuck em! Same shit different day. We've shoved their predictions firmly up their arses and made them look like the two-bit talentless hacks they are. If i was as shit at my job as they are at theirs i'd have been fired long before now.
  22. I agree, I'd like to see Leicester promoted. Although i hate to admit it I actually quite like and rate Nigel Pearson.
  23. I took a friend, who is a Leeds United supporter, to the match with me last night and was well impressed with how organised we were from back to front. Every time we went forward there were at least 4 players in the box, evey time we had to defend the CBs were totally in-tune with each other, no long ball blasts from the back or hoofing the ball into row z. Hughton and Calderwood have got the team so well drilled in all areas of the pitch and it's fantastic to see.
  24. The pace and rigours of the Premier League are much greater than in the Campionship, which almost certainly means more injuries. We need cover in every position because it'll only take a couple of injuries to key players and we'd be fucked!
