  1. No they didn't. The keeper in goal in the clip wasn't Harper.
  2. Jon Champion was celebrating before the Southend freekick was even taken
  3. They didn't. What was that free-kick that went in then? :? No idea. Watford didn't score a direct free-kick tonight. Wasn't it just footage from Watford this season? The keeper in goal in that clip has a number 1 shirt on
  4. Man U first? Wow what a suprise
  5. I'm gonna reserve my opinion until after tomorrow. When I see whether Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool are through, then we'll know where we stand.
  6. Also pleased to see us come from behind and score an equaliser. Was beginning to think I'd never see that again. Shouldn't have lost the lead in the first place mind.
  7. First-half diagnosis? Completely dominated. One of the best performances this season but still couldn't find the net more than once. Sibi should have had a hattrick Second-half diagnosis? Rubbish. Deserved to lose based on the 2nd half performance. Crumbled under Watford pressure. Full-time diagnosis? Glad we were still in the game as we could have so easily of not even got extra time Star man for United? Harper for getting us through Worst United player? Taylor really dissapointed me today Opposition comment? Put us under pressure in the 2nd half and in Extra time. Probably deserved a place in the 1/4 final. Toon-pros? We won a shootout! Toon-cons? Still don't have a goalscorer Post-match feelings? Relieved

TEAMS Newcastle United: Steve Harper, Stephen Carr, Steven Taylor, Peter Ramage, Celestine Babayaro, James Milner, Scott Parker, Emre, Damien Duff, Antoine Sibierski, Giuseppe Rossi Subs: Pavel Srnicek, Paul Huntington, Charles N'Zogbia, Nobby Solano, Albert Luque
  9. Freddy quotes from NUFC.com: "I don't get upset by the protests. "I love all the supporters because I'm one of them and don't have any problem with Geordies. If things were different I might be with them calling out about someone else. "I've got to do what's best for the business, not me, and if a Geordie Abramovich knocked on the door we'd have to do business. "I'd gladly do whatever to secure him but I don't want to lead supporters up a cul-de-sac because there's no-one there. "I will not walk out on the business. I've made mistakes but so has everyone in football. I am from Byker and I used to fight my way into school and fight my way out again. "The biggest criticism is I've been too kind to managers with funds and too generous to players but we have the weather and we are competing with Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester United and we are 300 miles from London. "We're on the verge of the Roman Empire, which is why they built the wall. "I've been accused of many things but I can't be accused of not providing for the manager or giving players great wages. Yes, there have been mistakes but regardless of what people say I have only ever dismissed two managers - Bobby and Graeme. "Everyone wanted Keegan and Kenny. When Gullit came there were 5,000 people here saying 'we want sexy football'. "Everybody wanted Bobby and we all know that and he was here for five years. "The only one the crowd did not want 100 per cent was Graeme but hindsight is a wonderful management tool. "It's very important especially at Newcastle, you need to take supporters with you with the manager. "It is a one-off club, the greatest in the world and managing it is the toughest job in the world. "I got a number of emails in the summer saying I had to give the job to Glenn Roeder and not many said don't. We've got to let Glenn get on with the job but look at the injuries he's had. That's not an excuse, it's a fact. "There has never been a quiet January at this club. We still have the team to get out of it. If it was Christmas I would be worried but we still have five months of the season. "I couldn't have done any more for the manager in the summer with what was available. Once the window shuts all I can do is manage the business as best as I can. I cannot get on the pitch with the players. "As a team and a club we've got to get on with it. We've got to get behind this team and support them. I will certainly get behind them. We're in this as a team. "It's not a task that can't be done. The players have all admitted they played badly but they've assured me they are all together. So let's crack on, move together and get a run going. "I have taken flack for it but the players have to stand up and be counted as well. Supporters want to win - they don't want to be fancy dans running up their own backsides. "This is tough but I'm not running away. It's up to me to see it through. There is no-one else to sort it out. "Right now it would seem I am the only one prepared to do this job and it is one I will continue to do to the very best of my ability and with the best interests of the club at heart. "There is no doubt we are in a situation which needs sorting out and sorting out quickly. "None of us can be happy at the position Newcastle United find themselves in right now and it is up to everyone involved to get us out of it. "We have to do better and that means everyone pulling together for the good of the club to work through what are undeniably tough times. "I think it is time the players are reminded just who they are playing for.
  10. Liar, he's not a Geordie, the fat mans from Cumberland. Sausage?
  11. "We've had injuries, it's not an excuse, it's a fact" "I'm just as optimistic as ever. We'll sort this out. We've got another 5 months to go" Says he backs Roeder and Roeder will sort it out. There will be money in January and Saturday was our only bad performance. "We've had some excellent performances this season"
  12. I would probably play Harper Taylor Ramage Moore Duff Milner Emre Butt N'Zogbia Rossi Sibierski but Roeder will probably play Harper Carr Bramble Moore Babayaro Solano Parker Emre Zoggy Rossi Duff

    Tim Krul

Krul's dream debut by Phil H Not a bad night in Europe for the four British clubs in Uefa Cup action on Thursday. Four wins out of four, and a cumulative scoreline of 9-1. But the really eye-catching display of the evening came from Newcastle's debutant keeper Tim Krul. The 18-year-old enjoyed a dream match against Serie A's joint leaders Palermo. An understandably nervy start (and wouldn't you be nervous with Titus Bramble in front of you?) was soon forgotten. And by midway through the second-half, Krul was almost single-handedly keeping the Magpies in the game with a string of excellent saves. Feet, hands, chest - most parts of Krul's body were employed in keeping out Palermo, and Glennn Roeder will be more than grateful. It was far from a complete performance from an understrength Magpies, but you can't argue with two wins out of two. In fact that goes for all four British sides, with Rangers, Tottenham and Blackburn also taking control of their groups with their second wins. Blackburn were poor in the first half, but a much-improved display after the break saw off Basel. And there was even a goal for former 'fox in the box' Franny Jeffers. It's fair to say that Jeffers' career hasn't panned out the way he thought it might when Arsenal shelled out £10m for him back in 2001. But the 25-year-old showed real bottle to pick the ball up and notch his first Rovers goal from the penalty spot. Spurs went behind to Club Bruges, but always looked to have too much class for the visitors. Dimitar Berbatov and Robbie Keane are showing the first signs of developing a genuine partnership up front. Berbatov's acrobatic volleyed pass to Keane for the second goal certainly showed the duo are on the same wavelength. Will that be enough for manager Martin Jol to give them a run of games together up front? Or is that wishful thinking? Rangers could afford to spurn a penalty and still run out comfortable winners against Maccabi Haifa. The Glasgow club shrugged off the injury to goalkeeper Lionel Letizi in the warm-up to put in one of their best displays of the season. Now all Paul Le Guen has to do is figure out how to get them to play like that in the SPL... http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A16985811?s_fromedit=1

    Barca v NUFC

Carr V Ronaldinho Babayaro V Messi Bramble V Etoo It would be a record breaking victory Whether we'd get destroyed or not, I'd pay big money to see that.
  21. Roeder and Shepherd would deny interest in a player at the press conference to announce their signing

    Reserves Vs Blackburn

finally, you're coming around to the idea
  23. Nice to see Roeder taking Relegation seriously
  24. If Given, Owen, Ameobi, Emre, Dyer, Martins and Sibierksi are injured and Parker, Carr, Butt and Taylor are carrying knocks and Bernard is unfit then we'd have to go: Harper Ramage Bramble Moore Babayaro Solano Pattison N'Zogbia Duff Milner Luque
