It's crazy how one game can change everyone's mindset. Was only a few days ago when people were talking about chasing down Arsenal for 2nd. I still have faith in this team and it's not Newcastle without a few bumps along the way. Regardless of where we finish, it's been a superb season. We have a team that we can be proud of.

It's called build up play. A striker's role isn't just about putting it in the back of the net. I Agree with the comments above that I think he is playing with an injury and isn't 100%.

Look at it from this point of view. They won the cup meaning we didn't qualify for Europe allowing our players to get more rest. Resulting in us winning a trophy and sitting 3rd in a very strong position with 6 games to go!

I'd still take him for the right price but obviously not the 70million fee we offered in the summer. He has the right attributes to do well and compliment our backline for sure.

Gordon is still ahead of Barnes for me. It's crazy how people's opinions are swayed by a few games. Gordon is a big player and steps up in the big games with a great record against the so called big 6. Not discounting Barnes from anything but the true test will be Saturday away from home vs Villa. It is certainly Barnes' position for now and Gordon needs to force his way back in.
