don't even think he s*** himself, if so he'd have punched it. just allowed the movement to make him misjudge it. Maybe but he looks tentative, if he's catching it there he has to jump higher. no. he has to make sure he doesn't lose concentration and keeps hold of the ball when it drops into his hands. Na, he needs to jump with his knees up and jump higher. he had the ball in his hands like he did numerous times today. that one he misjudged i reckon by being distracted by a player colse to him. jumping higher and putting his knee up would have made sod all difference

aye. it has to be said that it wasn't a foul but is given as one 99% of the time.

which was the end result anyway so he may aswell entertain.

right then, i was talking at work the other day bout footy and stuff and it got mentioned that the parachute payment has to be paid back if the receiving club leaves the championship. ie if we get promoted we have to pay it back and also why southampton were so much in the cack as theu hasd to pay it back when they got relegated. anyone know if this is true ?
-
my guess is the squad decided to give themselves the day off.

rotten farts ? fancy that in a place of loads of blokes who've been drinking alcohol and over eating for at least 48hrs....who'da thunk it ?

he should be competition for both the central midfielders. at his best, 4 or 5 years ago he was a rob lee style midfielder that negated the idea of needing a holding midfileder and an attacking midfielder as he done both effectivly. unfortunatly his performances don't have me hoping for much. Should be, but tbf, would you risk dropping a 10league goal midfielder (by xmas)? Smudger is in top form this season so looks to have nailed the spot, but hands down he is better than Butt...sad thing is, id say he is one of the better wingers we have productivity wise. Him and Guthrie are similar, tthough id say we'd be better playing Barton in order to up his potential sell-on value, much like Geremi... smith and butt are the same...nolan scores goals....githrie will play a cracking ball like nolan scores (ie will produce one thing in 90mins). we have no decent central midfielders.
-
to be fair i remember butt playing 3 very good balls to harewood (2) and gutierrez and on each occasion elaphantine touches lead to us conceding possession. don't honestly see any difference overall between butt or smith.......and lets be honest i don't think we have a premier league standard central midfielder on the clubs books.

level 7 is getting a good new recruit. the young lad who has sat next to (put up with) me for the past season and a half has got his ticket up there with his mate (who he 'd gayly wave to at halftime), think he's only missed 2 games this season home and away. good on ya kidda.
-
he picked one up off taylor and saw a forward pass(think it was to marlon headfoot) and played a perfect 20yd to foot pass without thinking what we all knew ie the opposition, one of about 6 in that area may try and stop it, which they did and turned our ball 20yds out into their ball 25yds out.

i haven't read the previous 7 pages and if what i think has been posted already then you can rub my nuts with fresh holly, but isn't mark hughes getting an easy ride ? on saturday night radio 5 couldn't even bring themselves to say 'sacked' instead lots of 'parted comapny' and 'left'. he was the manager in charge of a team taken over when in m id table, he wasnt he owners choice, and after spending 120mill or so leaves them in a similar position. no surprise to me. he's obviously a media fave with te ease of ride he's getting over this.

We used to...last season except last season that right back wasn't our best right back. steven taylor was our best right back last season. Nail on.....and he didn't run off whinging to another club. it's not easy to get folk out of 'fans fave syndrome' though.

no mention of the 30 yd volleyed pass on the turn wide left..........thought not. anyone think we were a worse team for having him on instead of smith ?. kevin nolan certaily didn't think so as he seemed to see it as a sign that he could get forward. if you want to slag butt off at leatst be honest when you look at smith.

how many stands should we have as we've had a lot of legends, many as deserving if not more.

A lot of the players Bobby inherited were injured more often than they played. Others were sulking around like little kids and he had to lift them. We were crap and needed major surgery to get us where we were. gullit leaving lifted them. i personally believe any near decent manager would have kept us up thast season but we wouldn't have gone on to become as good as we did.

I know what Joe Harvey did here as a player and manager and mentioned it in my post. We were closer to the 2nd division than the CL when Bobby arrived. He came in and had to sell to spend, his early signings were done on the cheap. Bobby Robson was brought in to keep us up and within 3 years we were challanging for the title and CL. If it wasn't for injuries we might have even won our first league title in over 70 years. we hadf a decent squad when he came but the previous had them totally demotivated. when i say decent i mean good enough to stop up. robson done very well but he's no keegan or harvey in my eyes.
