Like ? shola did, jerome, harewood for a long while, macfadden,scotland,campbell,ebanks-blake etyc etc etc. thay are players i class at least alongside beckford................he may be better or worse. but don't try and make out the prem is all rooney's and drogbas.

I don't know about Frank Pingel, but Andreas Andersson wasn't unknown and he wasn't cheap and youngish young ? If you like what you saw about Beckford last night and you are confident about his ability then fair enough. I was just worried that league 1 to premiership step up is too massive - even top championship strikers have high failure rate in Premiership unless they are trully "special". lots of non special forwards survive in the prem.

it's been mentioned a couple of times on here recently in one way or another (obviously not concerning us). just wondered what others thoughts were (or more honestly...heres mine) it's a threat and nothing more. if the champs league has proved one thing it's that for the most part fans wont come out to watch euro games that mean nowt. the only euro league that would work is the champs league format we have (and i don't like.....much rather have knock out all the way through), small leagues to keep interest running alongside domestic leagues as we have now. the idea of inter v ajax sounds good but it wont pull in crowds or viewers if they are 6th and 10th and out of contention for a euro league title.

I don't know much about Beckford if I am honest, but if finishin is his best forte then I seriously don't think he will be good in the Premiership. I would personally have preferred an unknown foreigner - he is possibly cheaper, younger, and perhaps has higher potential (provided we scout properly). Bellamy was excellent but he is great at being direct and running at defenders. i liked what i saw of beckford yesterday which is to be honest the first time i've seen him play a game as opposed to highlights etc. the unknown foreigner bit has to be crap bearing in mind frank pingel, andreas andersson etc.

how do you know who james harper is ? how do you know what white loafers are ?
-
Should be obvious that I am not talking about the scoring, when I said top scoring Championship strikers don't typically succeed in the Premiership ? normally cos they don't get picked up by the better teams who create the most chances...andy cole done ok as did teddy shez, robbie keane and kevin philips

dont know but my guess is free more of a get rid.

is that not an achiles protector, some players prefer to where them outside of their club socks.
-
he falls into the "do we improve for now to get promoted" or "shouldn't we be looking for better with the possibility of being in the prem next year" as he's not a good enough defender to make up for his lack of goingforwardness (applying for a copyright on that)

which god though, he's off to a muslim country ? whatever god is listening none then.

going back to my original strategy which really worked. take singles and lay when a goal goes in if i can make a decent profit. nice couple of results today with mallorca. 30 secs after they scored i made a decent profit and couldn't lose money, likewise in the wolves gamewhom i backed with half an hour left. lost on real madrid but ended up about 5/2 on the day. also does anyone know why the italian games are kicking off very early on weds.......chievo-inter kick off at 1130.

World Cup year, innit? Can't afford to not be playing, even with his profile in Cameroon. Yup, pretty much what it comes down too. sounds familiar

Ah theres certain characters like Madras - and a few of the moderators, believe it or not - who will pick up on almost every post I make and try to get others to join in on the flaming, knowing I bite back and get them screaming abuse (have a check at the Beckford/Boyd thread for an example) Pretty much like a pack of scabby cats at night on a wall - one starts yowling and then the rest join in ! theres certain people like you....well just you actually, that will try to make out that i jump on every post you make yet you forget about times when i've agreed with you and , the majority of times when i just haven't posted or even seen what you've posted. we do get a raw deal off the press but that piece that you kicked off about was COMPLIMENTARY TOWARDS US, BOTH FANS AND TEAM.

There won't be anything added to his price tag, he's out of contract in the summer FFS. If other teams are interested, why not? If teams are desperate around deadline day, I can see Beckford costing a lot. The teams potentially interested in him (lower Prem teams) won't pay a fuckload for someone because he did well in one game, and if Leeds want money for Beckford, they'll have to stay within reason and not kneejerk their asking price because Beckford scored at Old Trafford. I say they'll either keep him out hhis contract, or sell for a £1.5-2.5 Million. after todays performance we may not be the only bidder though. No reasonable club will pay a shitload for a player who is out of contract in the summer. Bar us none (lower prem / upper champ teams) are really desperate for a striker. not a shitload but they don't need to, they just have to be more appealing than us. ie mid table prem club. Where Beckford would go if given more options is something completely different. I'm just saying this performance will have little to no effect whatsoever on the asking price. so why did you reply to me saying we may not be the only bidder ?

c'mon dave. once you saw it was from me you should have known it wouldn't be a stupid post, grammatically childish but not stupid.

had a phone call from plymouth an hour or so ago. my mates in a pub "whats this a about woodgate, it's just been on sky sports that he's having a medical at newcastle" now, my guess is ssn were doing there "on this day" feature but there is a car load of geordies now on their way back thinking we are about to re-sign woodgate.

what do you expect man. always happens when people with P,I,L, and K in their usernames get together. My fault ? How ? Both PP and Dave misread a quite innocent post and went ballistic, and it's MY fault ? madras is even worse than the red-tops these days tbh. if i had the intelligence i'd try and get my username name in a sun/mirror type banner.

Blah, blah, blah... f*** off, it's beyond boring. Lame, so they cant attack or have a go at us this season cos we are sitting pretty with cracking crowds coming through the door. So they go back to our relegation day. f*** off man and think of summik new. Borning c***s. Theres been a staggering amount of spite thrown at this club, and more disgracefully against the fans. And the WORST of this has been in the so-called "quality" broadsheets. They have been hugely, petualntly disappointed we have not done a Leeds. They'll keep trying to have digs at us too until one of their own number does a major article in one of these same broadsheets asking what T.F. they're doing it for, and ask them to justify their spiteful obsessions. Not very likely that, is it ? doubt you'll get a bite this time phil. He's spot on. What is there to bite about? how about the reems and reems of newsprint telling us about how loyal and passionate the geordie fans are. you know the stuff that galls the rest of the country. what i meant about 'this time' was his insistence that a backhandedly complimentary piece was ahatchet job.
