  1. the ocean....as if theres only one.
  2. unlikely....you aint helping your original premise.
  3. you are mistaking going to watch them with wanting them to win. i'd guess for quite a lot of nufc and safc fans after winning for their clubs the next best is the old enemy losing....you here the cheers/groans when scores are read out.
  4. I think it's pretty obvious why everyone is puzzled. i'm with tete on this. not something i'd do but i've seen it done often enough. Look at it from logic. Newcastle fans watch Newcaslte by definition because they are Newcastle fans. Sunderland fans watch Sunderland for the same reason. Here we have a Newcastle fan watching Sunderland. footbal and logic don't go together. both sets of fans know so much about each other to aid their dislike of each other. if you say you come from up here, support nufc but treat safc in the same way as bristol city or sheff wed i'll call you a liar. the world is dictated by logic. If I say to you, 'the water, it is dry' does this make sense? NO, because the water is wet. Just like the Newcastle fan doesn't go to the Sunderland matches. gillingham in their play offs tha relegated them to the 3rd tier. i win.

  7. "dad why have we travelled all the way from killingworth for this ?" "just in case son....just in case"
  8. He changed his mind later on, if I remember correctly. a good while later after his position was indefensible. even when shown replay after replay he defended it for a long while.

    London Mags

so you had to go to london as you couldn't find a job but i bet you don't intend to stay there if you make a few quick bob.
  10. Did your lot boo today? I hold no truck with booing, but after the terrible football and crap results we've watched for the last 6 months, you can't really blame them. Hmm what a terrible life you villa fans have. The fact that there are plenty of clubs worse off than us doesn't really come into it, tbh. So you had a bad run in. And a whole season of poor home form. And still finished off in a pretty decent position. Some fans just want it all. Eh, am I missing something here? I think Newcastle fans get a bad rap in general but we we weren't happy when we finished 5th under Robson, mainly because it was clear to see that performances had been going downhill for at least 18 months. Not a dissimilar situation if you ask me. wrong. the problem wasn't that we finished 5th. the problem was that week in week out that season we could see that we were going backwards on the pitch. not necessarily in the results but the actual play itself.
  11. don't you read the papers. only nufc fans boo anyway.

    RIP sale thread.

Its not about covering all those costs but sustaining them. The club couldn't sustain those kind of operating costs, not when the future prospects of the club in terms of revenue was one of less income and that was before relegation... Not denying that the club was running on excessive wages, just know that Ashley will not walk away from this club having been taken for as much as people think he has been, how many players have we sold in the last 2 years compared to those we brought in? Wages now down to 48 Million apparently with last years Sky money, merchandise and gate receipts to be included, add on top of that money from player sales and do you think the deficit will be up or down? The 2009 accounts were forecast to have a reduced loss in comparison to the previous year. But a reduced loss isn't going to make anyone money. The Sky money, merchandise and gate receipts you mention will be included in the 2009 accounts, as will the £72m wage bill which wasn't reduced until recently. Also remember that wages are not the clubs only costs. The wages are now £48m (perhaps even slightly lower) but the TV money will now be £14m (parachute payment) instead of £35m. Foreign TV money will now be £0 instead of £8m (?), merchandise will be lower as well. Costs have dropped but earnings will have dropped even more. Anyway I'm breaking my promise of not getting into the financial stuff tonight so I'm going to stop now. Ok not going into to financail detail then but don't you think it would be safe to assume that 2010 accounts (thus far) will show NUFC making a profit once merchandise, player sales and gate reciepts have been included? Duff = 4 Mill Beye = 2 Mill Bassong = 8 Mill Martins = 10 Mill to 12 Mill? Edgar = 1-2 Mill? Possibles: Taylor - 6-8 Mill Colo and Gutierrez = 10-12 Mill (Combined) Incoming = -0 Mill Plus revenue with TV, Merchandise and Gate receipts? I think the one thing that grates me is that in amongst all this cost cutting, it is still jobs for the boys, Wise still getting paid apparently, Mort, Llambias, Kinnear etc. Doesn't seem to be any cost cutting applied to those people. how is kinear being paid when his contract expired injune or july? and the rest are being paid as per their contracts.
  13. He's been outstanding as well. got to admit i'd been watching the game on and off for best part of an hour and never even realised he was playing.
  14. to be fair it isn't at sunderland. i've seen sunderland tops on more than one occasion at newcastle away games. always thought it was a mackem living in the area who came along hoping to see the old enemy get beat. i know mackems have said they've seen nufc tops at some of their aways aswell.

Rubbish, if they players didnt get paid they could break there contracts and the club would be in Administration. They did get paid eventually but it was very late, round about the time we played Leyton Orient. 2+2=6.435
  16. it'll be HD in the UK aswell i guess.

whoah there buddy. i don't remember at anypoint moat saying who the manager would be, I thought I read somewhere he wanted Shearer as his first choice for the Managers job. then maybe I misread then. f*** it!!!. i don't think i've read anything directly attributable to moat. for every story saying whoever comes in shearer will be manager there's one saying he won't.

We're third after four games. There are FORTY games left, plus at least two cup games. At present, we have very few injuries. Five or six injuries later and we're playing the academy side. Of course we need new signings. What an awful post. 46 league games sonny. (unless you have us going to the wall with 2 games left ?) it's always good to get new signings in ,personall though i think the squad as it is would go up. all clubs at thei level will have to rely ion young players as they can't afford the depth of squad that is the norm in the prem. the question that remains is what sort of squad we'll have come 5pm on set 1st.

negative things are gospel. some people just love a good moan. Maybe - but theres hardly been any good news for years - please name ANY in the last 5 years. Its not an accident that most bad news turns out to be right, and good news NOT where this club is concerned. souness sacked, roeder gone, fred gone, allardyce sacked. all good news at the time.

Nail hit squarely on it's head!! so barry moat is in on it then ?
  23. had 6 results already in. managed to lay to my original stake just before KO.
  24. I think H&G would sell the club if they couldn't service the debt. I think Man Utd and Arsenal would be in a spot of bother, too, if they missed out on CL footie. The CL is worth a metric ton of cash. they would want to sell the club but it is easier said than done.
