  1. i was thinking along those lines but getting ned out of retirement for the portsmouth match
  2. I'm saying that along with the Police they should accept some of the responsibility. Eh? For being herded into overcrowded pens, inadvertantly crushing their fellow fans and being ignored by the police when they screamed for help? for regularly up and down the country getting someone in then having them open a gate, rushing any doors/gates that they could open etc. they were famous for doing it throughout europe. i saw a big pushing match with liverpool fans and newcastle coppers mid 70's trying to get in the strawberry corner gate. remember the scenes from wembley for the mersyside fa cup final of ticketless fans scaling fernces etc, climbing in windows in the twin towers to get in
  3. can't understand the hate ? he's here for exactly the same reason as the rest in that we were the best available option at the time. oh, it's cause he's a massive part in our current predicament, in every sense never wanted to be here & would have been gone already given a sniff of a chance same goes for the vast majority of the squad

    Financial meltdown?

I don't get what you mean. If you reduce the operating costs you already cover the drop in income, because income is used to pay the operating costs.. Plus when you sell the player you not only reduce costs through cutting wages but you also bring money in through transfer fees (if you get a fee that is). My point is we won't need to sell half the squad to break even if we reduce the costs enough to begin with. I’m not surprised. It confuses the hell out of me. There‘s three ‘separate’ losses in the event of relegation. The fall in TV revenue (£44m) The fall in gate receipts and corporate stuff (£19) The predicated operating loss if we’d stayed up (£7m) Grand total of to break even next season if we go down, £70m. Now forget Owen. His wages have already been paid upfront with the Northern Rock sponsorship money, and having him off the wage bill would have already been factored into the predicted £7m loss for next season. The same goes for Viduka and probably Geremi who is also out of contract at the end of the season. So if we are to break even we have to find £40m (after parachute payments) to break even. <pause for inevitable quibbling> He's creating an efficient business mate. Doesn't really matter what league we are in or anything, he's just creating an efficient business. Many people on here wanted this. So they ought to be happy with it. Good old Mike, and the "plan" he had which his predecessors never had, ever. We might get some good away trips at Blackpool, Bournemouth, Southend and Plymouth in the next few years. who ? as i remember it most just saw that we couldn't just go on racking up more and more debt year on year. as plenty other clubs have come to realise.
  6. What happened at Spurs? Sorry, wasnt old enough. we palyed spurs in the 5th round of the cup (i think it was) and how a sim ilar thing didn't happen is beyond me. can't remember if it was all ticket (i had a ticket for the seats).
  7. terrible for those involved but have any liverpool fans accepted their part in the situation ?. it was known and bragged about by liverpool fans to storm gates across europe to gain access to grounds.

    Financial meltdown?

gutierrez, martins, coloccini. Couldn’t play for another club this season. Not going to get much for an ineligible player. Martins might have raised £12m… did anyone bid for him? exp;lain to me why he couldn't play for another club. nobody bid for steven gerrard.....whats your point ? They’d have both have played for three clubs in a year? My point is that your clutching at straws. Wise would have looked like a right donkey if he’d signed players in July and sold them in January. Probably at a loss, judging by Collocini’s form. Selling Jonas might have been a bit difficult while his transfer for Mallorca was subject to a legal battle. Martins was the only one of the three who could have been sold for more than £6m+. And he probably would have gone if anyone had put a bid in. Have we rejected a bid for any player since Ashley took over? you can play for three clubs in a year, but not for 3 in a season .(hence diarra signing for pompey in january after signing for arsenal the previous august). my point is many still think the money we got for n'zogbia was fair, we got more than milner was worth and we got robbed on given. ashley has made enough mistakes without you blaming him for the weather and high tides. Calm down. I’m saying there aren’t many corners left for him to cut, and he’s already sold our most saleable assists. You can quibble about whether Coloccini’s market value is greater than Milner’s if you want, but it’s neither here or there. Player sales will be the only way to service next season's losses if we go down, and as those losses will be gigantic we’ll be left with a paper thin squad made up of kids and free transfers. And that means another relegation scrap. cutting down debt intrest as well as saving on wages of the likes of viduka and geremi et al will also save a bit.......player wages was by far the largest bill.
  11. You think we'd be in this state if he'd have stayed? No, but then i'd say that if he'd not brought him back in the first place we'd not be where we are now. Still his own decision/fault either way though. True, but I reckon any manager of decent standing within the game would of ultimately been forced to go about it similar to Keegan and therefore we were always going to be in this state. Possibly, but again we're back to who did/said/promised/demanded etc what - all been done to death but resurrected many times. Until both sides have their say, we'll never know the true story. However and regardless of who started it, it all comes down to the fact that Ashley wanted KK and made the appointment, if he thought KK was his man he should have had the guts to follow it through. I don't go with the concensus that Ashley is out to intentionally f*** us over, I think he has a genuine want for us to do well, but he's surrounded himself with key personnel who don't really know what they're doing. Yeah? So why did Sportsdirect only pay NUFC something like £40k for what amounts to a blue chip sponsorship package at SJP? On the face of it, it looks like great business for Ashley‘s first love, but shocking business for NUFC. so why is he putting his cash in ? As its his club, he didn't have to put anything in to give one of his companies advertising space. *sorry, thats for Fading Star - picked the wrong 'quote'* so what? If its of no consequence then why did you bring it up in the first place? One could argue he should stop whinging about having to put millions in the club to keep it afloat whilst buying advertising space worth millions for free at the same time. It's not so much pertinent now, but it will become moreso when NR will be replaced by SD as our primary sponsor. True, just thought it was a weak arguement to use that as an indicator that he's intentionally screwing us over. i'll doubt that advertising space is worth millions In fact, he's missing a trick by not selling the rest of the roof for advertising. And diminish the prominence of his favourite business. Why would he do that? he could sell the space to a company that competes in a different market so thered be no competition. fucking good job he doesn't take a wage eh ?

    Financial meltdown?

First one is wiki, others are various forums of Championship clubs talking about it. But I also just found a quote from Adam Pearson, chairman of Derby City: So it would seem it was slightly more then I thought, £11.5 per year for clubs relegated last season. Like I said lets just hope it really has gone up again for clubs relegated this season, or instead lets just hope we don't get relegated so it won't matter! That would be good, but if Ashley doesn’t change is plan we’ll be here again next season. The squad needs strengthening and we need a proper manager, and we can’t have either unless he invests in the business. Restructuring the debts might save a few million in interest but it’s been of no use at all to the most important part of the business. i'll bet we can get a better manager than kinnear for the money we are paying him.
  17. wouldn't say over his head (if it were he wouldn't be putting cash in or underwriting the debt) but he's certainly been bit on the arse by not checking out the state the club was in (luckily, some might say)
  18. Sounds like you've just made a bunch of stuff up to me. Oh well. He might not have a clue about how to run a football club, but it doesn't take a genius to realise that NUFC's value will massively decrease if it drops out of the top flight. So it benefits no-one. Howay then. Explain how £40k for a prestige sponsorship package is good business for NUFC? just out of curiosity can you link me to this ammount and what they get for it ? amongst other things Numerous prominent advertising hoardings around the ground, probably more than either Adidas or Northern rock get. Significant advertising time on the pitch side electronic hoarding. Their name on the Gallowgate. Their logo on the post match interview board. Did you see it on MOTD, just over the left shoulder of player being interviewed. The club could have sold this stuff for millions, but basically gave it away. so you could say he's paid 230mill for that then. he's been robbed.

  20. so lets get this straight...you think ashley paid out over 230mill and then seemingly more each month to pay the bills, in order to shift a few moe £10 tracksuit bottoms ? Yes, by raising the profile of his business in the emerging markets on the back of the NUFC brand, and of course there’s the opportunity for cushy little kit deals. Adidas paid NUFC £25m million to manufacture our kit for five years. What odds Lonsdale getting a similar deal for £100k? Northern Rock paid £25m to have their name on our shirts, what odds Sportsdirect paying £40k for the privilege? Line the pockets of his other companies for five years. Use NUFC to establish the SD brand in the emerging markets. Sell on for roughly what he paid for the club, or more if by some miracle we don’t end up like Sheff Wed. 230mill to raise the profile of lonsdale etc ? you've been at parky's conspiracy wine haven't you ?
