there was me thinking the "other side" would be the equivilent os stockport or rochdale. saying that i still can not understand the concept of supporting another football team. I've had a go at getting interested in clubs where I've lived abroad. In Berlin in the late 1980s, I used to go to Blau-Weiss 90 matches with a really good bunch of lads, but it was like playing at supporting a club. It was a bit like that for the Germans I'd go with, too -- Blau-Weiss had rocketed out of nowhere, spent one season in the 1. Bundesliga, and then plummetted back to the lower divisions. They didn't really have any traditional support and, in the second division on the way back down, were getting about 8,000 for a home game in the 70,000-seat Olympia-Stadion. We had a laugh, but it was hard to care very much about what happened on the pitch. I wouldn't be particularly elated if they won, nor very troubled if they didn't, and at at least one game was too pissed to notice anyway. In Lisbon I went to matches at both Sporting and Benfica, and decided I preferred Sporting -- partly to be contrary as the usual thing among English-speaking foreigners in Lisbon is to be a Benfica fan, and partly because I don't like teams that play in red and white. But in a city where every backstreet seems to have a little Sporting supporters' club/bar and a little Benfica supporters' club/bar, I truly had zero connection to either. In Budapest I tried Ferencváros (both the Man U and the Millwall of Hungary -- horrible), Újpest (the "nice" club, but unsupportable because of Fairs Cup history, inconveniently located stadium and violet strip), and MTK (the "Jewish" club, undergoing cash-fuelled revival after acquisition by local retail magnate, but no character). They were all crap; Budapest has too many clubs and too little money. I ended up favouring Vasas, one of the smaller top-flight clubs, because they had a bar behind the goal where you could watch the game in comfort with a beer, and always find a seat.... I've given up now. The bottom line is that I just don't really care whether any of these teams wins or loses. It's those wild, insane moodswings that let you know you're watching the team that you truly support. that i can understand. you're there and feel involved. it's part of your environment and you want where you are to be better than all others and a new country gives you a clean slate. the issue i have is those with no tie in picking another club to support aswell. and you are aware of vasas's humiliating past aren't you ?

Hasn't got either Beye or Enrique down as injured, surely that must be wrong. They were on it this morning. They're better! We had 9 injuries when I looked yesterday so yeah must be better their dates on physioroom were for the blackburn game but listed as doubtful.

The Ashley debate will be over in the next month or so (hopefully) - the fact that this shitstorm has made people organise should be the thing that matters so that in the future their can be some kind of common voice - I do think they shouldn't have even mentioned this issue in their press release but understand the desire to get people on their side. It's the big picture/future that matters. As for robbing the club of money thats BS as well - having everything ran by or tied to the club takes away the whole point - independence. For some people the Sheppard/Hall debate hasn't ended, so I doubt it. the ashley thing is all a shepherd created front to make people forget about little craigie bellamy.

never liked him but once watched him play 5-a-side at eldon square for his mates team (whislt a liverpool player) and was absolutly fantastic. sometimes sat in the stands you could almost think "whey man i'm better than that" but to watch him was to see the difference. he wasn't big headed or arrogant in anyway. if you didn't know who he was you'd just think a very talanted one of the lads.

What about foreign fans who chose us when we were a good team - surely just as bad as those choosing Chelsea now? Yeah but even then we weren't hitting the top. Its just listening to American Footy podcasts. And people go "My teams are Inter and Arsenal" its like how can you do that you've picked two teams at the top of their respective leagues. If you really want to root for 2 teams, why not go Arsenal Palermo. Experience both sides of the game. yeah palermo is the other side isn't it.

He overdoes the dribbling at the moment, but with so little movement around him, there aren't many options other than pass backwards or sideways. Well, time will tell. If they are unhappy with the club and want to play for "better" clubs, then my take on this is that they should not view Newcastle this way, so we should find out why the feel this way and do something about it. He's too quick for most of his team mates, both in his view of the game, and his movement of the ball. his movement of the ball and off the ball has been poor for a long time and his view ?............come off it,even when he was playing well his main problem was often dribbling up blind alleys when he had had options prior. I don't see many options for any of our midfielders tbf. There's not a load of movement in the mdfield, and less up front. Guthrie apart most of our midfielders stop running as soon as they have passed the ball, so unless you want to pass backwards, it's easy to get caught in the trap of over-dribbling. i remember saying that about butt when he first came (trying impossible passes because there was nowt else on) and latterly but i'm honest enough to say,like yesterday,when a player just has a bad game.

I don't remember the players threatening to go on strike because of Lee leaving, what would have been the point if he was then managing another club? I can't remember the fans ever singing Gordon we love you which you've claimed before. I'm sure you don't, but people who supported the club at the time will. Pathetic. i was there at that time but too young to remember. however my dad and his mates in the club certainly remember lee's name being chanted after he left but not quite in the way NE5 remembers if you get my drift.

But the last 15 years has been the best of the last 50. Correct or not ?
