I disagree over Spurs if they lose both Berbs and Keane. You can't get rid of the best facet of your team from the previous season and expect to progress. Spurs were in the relegation zone (the REAL relegation zone, not a late-season flirtation) for a large part of last season. They will be again, and could possibly be relegated. Just like last summer, they are being so frequently and so ridiculously "talked up" - so some people are (again) actually believing it!! The power of a dedicated LONDON-OBSESSED ("national") media . . . With Spurs, whatever the quality of their attacking play, their defence will determine where they finish. That's been their weakness recently, and unless they can keep Ledley King fit, it'll continue to hold them back. A huge problem with spurs' defence was with the keeper, arguably the worst in the division in terms of gifting soft goals and throwing points away in an instant. that they've got rid of him and replaced him with a keeper who is supposed to be very good is a step in the right direction. they also have woodgate in for a full season (instead of a half season where ramos wasnt really interested in the league) and Corluka should be signing for them too. it wasn't even their defence that was the problem it was their defending throughout the team,which,in my opinion has been a long term problem and still hasn't been adressed player wise. it'll be interesting to see if ramos can make the change for them mentality/tactically wise.

It'll take a long time before it gets to that stage though IMO. the press will help. with nothing to print they keep on making up stuff or making mountains out of nowt and each day turn more people against them. it has already started happening this summer. Ridiculously naive IYAM. The vast majority of supporters do not scour internet forums for reasoned debate and form their own opinions. They believe what gets drummed into them from all sides by the media which feeds off any rumour it can get it's hands on. Even on here, most believe we were in for Aimar , Turam, etc, without anything whatsoever from the club itself to back that up. It's been seen before, no matter how ridiculous the story the "there's no smoke without fire" brigade will come out. So far Ashley is still in his honeymoon period for most, but that will last no more than another mid-table season. If he carries on letting the media set the agenda, and refuses to deny the stories they come up with, by the end of the season I believe a large number of supporters will have turned against him whether justified or not, and any negative story that come up will be believed. The media will produce stories about NUFC whether the club feeds them the stories or not. If they work with the media, then there's at least a chance the press will be positive. If they force the media to rely on rumour and hearsay, then there is absolutely no chance of that press showing the club in a positive light. can't prove it of course but just in talking to other fans the ammount who, over the course of this summer, have stopped falling for the media line has increased considerably. it wont happen overnight but it has started.

Definitely agree with that. Although I remain convinced the Coloccini thing (the only issue that's really unresolved) is due to others coming in. me too. personally i think he has signed and the paperwork is done.
