Care to explain your reservations? he hasn't got the ability to do it against better teams. true he has shown himself to be a better footballer than some thought but i dont think the 4-3-3 as of now would work against the higher ups (also viduka hasn't the ability to make it happen and martins hasnt the nouse)
-
if we play 4-3-3 at spurs we'll be throwing points away. it was ok agianst brum and fulham but with confidence up 4-4-2 away will be better....keegans choice to drop owen, viduka or martins (owen my choice but it wont happen)

no

Smith. like i said ?

butt and enrique were very good. beye and geremi play a game with themeselves that doesnt help us. viduka was enigmatic owen play like he was trying to be mark hughes circa 85. martins has the skill, needs the nouse. faye and taylor lack confidence (in themselves and each other) barton still isnt worthy of a starting place but is getting better week by week. harper made a couple of seemingly easy but tricky-under the conditions-saves. did i miss anyone ?

shouldn't be talking about the back 4's defending but how we defended as a team.
-
precisely. as HTT says, many managers put their faith in their (best) players as oppose to being tactics mad. ask ac milan how tactically aware fergie is afetr their game(s) last season. its bollocks man. thats wrong lovejoy if you are making out he just picks his best players.

Aye that's what I was thinking. I'm sure Ashley told Keegan how much he had to spend when he took the job, I think it's also believable that Keegan would have told some of his coaching staff what was going on and how much he has available, the likes of Terry Mac are still close to Beardsley so it's not as if he isn't well connected within the club, that's without mentioning him having a private box at the ground and him doing publicity work for the club. I don't doubt that there will be plenty of Mike Ashley's money for transfers (maybe even the £100m mentioned) but why would he tell anyone, including Keegan, the exact figure? From what Keegan has said of his meeting with Mike he was left in no doubt that plenty of funds would be available. Regarding what Beardsley says, he also said at one of these fan events that Steve Sidwell was definitely joining us last season and that didn't happen. I'm sure he thought it was true when he told people but it didn't end up happening. agree with most of that....and a constant i've got on every time transfer season that comes round......i very much doubt any exact figure has been arrived at, they'll do what they think they have to and what they can afford.

we've done both and got burned....lets hope he buys the right players.

Different eras and totally incomparable in terms of finance. I agree in principle though. The team that came up and finished third was largely the same team that got us promoted, only really Pedro was added iirc. The real money came later. and even andy cole only joined when promotion looked pretty certain. bracewll, beresford and venison were the only new faces to start the promotion season from the one that nearly went down. rob lee joined about 6 weeks into the season and sellars and robinson well into new year. (off the top of my head so if i'lm wrong no doubt someone will tell) aye thats how i remember it as well. I think I was at Robinsons debut, or one of his first matches, and I remember me and my uncle talking about how good he looked. anyone remember why it didn't work out for him? just not happy being cover for Venison? can't have been much longer than a season before he was off to barnsely iirc. fairly sure robinson and sellars both made their debuts home to barnsley (6-0,cole 4,kelly,sellars) sellars went on to become a vital fisrt teamer, robinson looked like he might progress at that level but i doubt he'd have made it at prem level. vroke his leg in a pre season friendly at hartlepool and drifted out of the squad altogether. edit. sellars and robinson signed in the march. the barnsley game was in april (wasn't their debuts) scorers cole 3, clarke, beresford, sellars Pretty sure both Sellars and Robinson debuted in a midweek 2-2 game. aye..charlton (thanks toonstats....best nufc resource on the interweb)

when i went to the training ground terry mac was as much involved as the other coaches.

hope the weather doesn't play a part.

i agree. roy hodgson is no mug and he will try to take advantage of bullard and murphy getting space through the middle and they are clever players who will find space if it's there.it could all depend on how much cover hodgson will leave to cover our forward 3.
-
he'd be stupid to sign a new contract without knowing which division the club will be in next season...likewise the club would be stupid to offer one for the same reason. i think both owen and the club understand each others positions. i'm pretty sure NONE of the major earners will be signing new contracts till we have sorted out what division we'll be in. fucking obvious to me but some will need it spelled out.
-
i think a lot of people are going off when he played against us for, i think it was hairybean and he did look very good. especially in the game over here. also thinking like that would mean van horseface and van persie would never have been brought over. the problem is sorting out those who can cut it from those who can't.

aye, Geremi's much better like mackems.gif mackems.gif mackems.gif lets at least compare a forward with a forward........lets say albert luque or patrick kluivert or andreas andersson. Ok then Mark Viduka, "good business" i'll see your mark viduka and raise you a paul kitson Wasn't Viduka signed when Shepherd was still in charge? not sure, but irrelevant. The point is that a world class footballer is being dismissed as a "FS type signing" Scraping the depths, I couldn't think of a funnier comment if I tried. As Keegan says he'd like him, does this mean he wouldn't be an Ashley trophy signing Fantastic. 'Nuff said. I won't labour the point. and you'll make out that all fat freds signings were world class....they werent. at the time we were in the s*** and robson came in what did we get...? kevin gallagher. no doubt NE5 was screaming at the board for being s**** then aswell thats not the point at all, which you know very well. Thierry Henry = Shepherd trophy signing or Ashley/Keegan quality signing. Seeing as it seems it has to be spelled out for you. Utterly priceless. Thank you and Goodnight. where do i mention trophy signings or even give my opinion of wether i think he'd be a good signing or not ? not priceless...actually quite pitiful

he did....and he didn't. he did say it but when put in context with the rest of his answer you get the feeling he didn't measn it.
