Man Utd don't even have a formation beyond midfield iyam. Tevez, Rooney, Ronaldo, Nani et al just play where they want. Apparently it works fairly well for them... They do usually start out in set positions I think, and the changes usually occur when they aren't getting any joy, but that's the sort of thing that we need to be looking at doing ourselves. Like you've said, it helps that they're f****** brilliant. nah..man utd are fluid throughout the game rergardless of if it's working or not.

i don't think he has the discipline required defensivly. lots of covering and taking up defensive positions involved where as n'zog, skillful as he is on the ball, his off the ball work is poor.
-
Not many teams play one of those. yet according to some owen is playing behind a front two ?
-
People may want to sign two centre backs, and it adds detail on the kind of centre halfs people want to see. Obviously both added together indicates the popularity of the centre back choice, and I think it is a bit better than just putting CB1 and CB2. why not go for 2 centre halves who are physically strong, good in the aor, read the game well and are canny on the ball ?

i'm 90% sure he'll regret it

we should be looking for players who can do more than one of them very well...ie midfielders who can score, create and stop the oppo.

I don't think anyone's debating that; the need for another left back is because Enrique is our only proven and natural player there and so we're in a spot of s*** if he gets injured, suspended or whatever. either a youngster who wouldn't expect first team games straight off or an experienced pro (maybe centre half come left back) who knows he's part of a squad. Yep, which is why I'm unsure on signing Shorey or Bridge as they'll be wanting to play ahead of Enrique rather than occasionally swapping in for him. Would be a shame if that happened as I feel Enrique has alot going for him and would be wasted in the reserves. Someone similar to that Gunter guy that Spuds signed would fit the bill nicely. putting my head on the block but i think enrique could become a very good international class left back. hate to see us lose him. i also think he is better defensivly than bridge or shorey and, with our upturn in form and different playing style (ie passing) has looked a decent ball player aswell. not the finished article by any means but shows everything needed at that age to think he could go far.

thats the great thing about the formation at the minute..i done even see owen as playing behind a front two. if we cant work it out what chance has the oppo ?

I wonder if Keegan has been using 4-3-3 as it gets the best out of what we have and had different plans for next season...but maybe his head is being turned a little ? D'you reckon he sees 4-3-3 as the long term (ie next season) plan ?

chiles was miserable at the start. honestly thoight he was going to finish with "all this on the day that blah blah blah passed away"

aye mid table against relegation threatened should take precedence over champs league qualification battle and local derby. Thats fair enough if you're talking picking live games, but the best game on the highlights should be shown first. Although they know half of the fans in the country will be waiting up to see Spurs get stuffed. for yars now they've done it in terms of which games they think will carry the more intrest

? Not today, earlier in the season thought he was poor. id have beye over hutton your mad His mad what? beat dave to it...he'll not be happy.
-
agreed but i'd like to see a top quality centre half brought in to add to the centre halves we already have.

stan seymour.(i'll say it again) player in the 1927 title winning team, manager of the cup winning teams 51 &52
-
it'll be the same position as when he came if those in the champs lge positions don't want him. if we strengthen as we hope to i'd imagine he'd want to stop as opposed to cieth or spuds.

We've forgotten what to do!
-
we win away from home, best performance of the season by far........................... ........and it still turns in to a petty, pedantic debate

everyday it seems like a little bit of arsenal leaves you and a little bit of byker takes its place.

also people may be starting to realise he is a better footballer than they ever gave him credit for.

Owen one of the best finishers in the world? He is statistically: 0.49 goals per game. There is only about a dozen players in Europe better than that. Strange you find that funny. He was, Parky. Not is. won't be far off for NUFC.

Owen one of the best finishers in the world? agree he doesn't seem it but goals per game in top divisions over a decade i'd reckon he'd be up there. Was would be a more appropriate term, and I'd agree with it over his career, but he's certainly not that at this moment of time. He's missed a boatload of simple chances recently, and without the blistering pace that got him the easy goals earlier on in his career, he's not the lethal striker that we spent £17m on. He's still a good player, make no mistake, but justifying £17m and 100k/week? One of the best finishers in the world? Come on, no one seriously believes that. coming back from how long out, a player who everyone said needed six weeks after 2 month out to get firing. now he's getting back,THIS is the player we bought. be worried if he's not getting in the right place for the chances. watch and he'll get sharper and the finishing will get better.

troilism ? theres an idea
