  1. No way. Give someone like Ben Haim £70k, and when we do start going for the top stars, we'll be looking at Owen-style wages. if they are top stars we'll be looking at owen style wages anyway
  2. Quite possibly. He cant that easily sign when he is on holiday in Dubai. he can if all the paper work our side has already been done.
  3. i can see him being a 20ish a season goalscorer......25 a season is alot these days

http://www.footballtransferleague.co.uk/football_rumours.aspx?football_rumour_date=2007-Jun-10 Hope that one's true! i know one or two mackems who are getting very worried, they were expecting a load of quality to come in but instead are linked with andy 'o' and neil lennon.
  5. and I was there, heard it all day next day on the radio, sure it was "kelly in on goal, david kelly...can he stay on his feet...? DAVID KEELLLLY!"
  6. not a piece of commentry as such but when on the lads holiday (late may bank holiday week) we'd have on tape the sports report (radio 2 old,now radio 5) tune, even though the season was over every bloke in ear shot would be craning necks and ears...just in case. it's actually called "out of the blue" and is by the central band of the RAF
  7. he also done the nufc v bolton cup game "what a typical, typical, newcastle goal"
  8. can't turn the radio off till i've heard stuart halls summary............ i would pay money to get him to do a summary of us winning at anfield or old trafford to win the title, and play it over and over.....................
  9. I agree. But the hard facts of football life is that the Bosman rule has changed things, we have had very little from Owen for 16-17m quid, in 2 years. He's a free agent in 2 years time, in 18 months he can talk to clubs. He owes us, big style. If he won't commit, then we stand to lose his entire transfer fee. Only if he scores the winner in the FA Cup Final can he even begin to repay his fee now. And, the plan is to replace him with another quality player, not an average one, but don't ask he who in particular. There ARE players out there who are quality players, and we would have to go and get one of them, on a longer contract, who wants to sign such a contract and wants to play for Newcastle. not really, the plan behind letting cole go was to get ferdinand in(which should have happened at the easter but QPR'Sshit run put themin relegation trouble).take your pick ferdinand/beardsley...beardsley/cole...ferdinand/cole.................keegan made the right choice in my mind.
  10. I really don't know. Maybe you should ask why "not being good enough for a top 4 team" is so bad ? Before you do though, ask yourself where we were before he played for us, when he played for us, and where we were when he left ..... or ignore facts as per normal could be said about andy o'brian to be honest Glad you said that and not me mate just i'm not prepared to put our improvment down to one player, shearer still being a top quality player was as much,as was roberts form, bernards and gary speeds and rob lees...don't you think

  12. given the straight choice owen or bellamy....owen. given the choice bellamy or £9mill going towards a huntelaar or some such...take the cash
  13. Do you think these two have reached the standard of play they were playing at Newcastle since leaving. bellamy at blackburn did, robert carried on the way he was latterly here.
  14. i added to my post aswell.if you think a sacking was in order for souness for allegedly deckinh bellamy on the training pitch then you have to be consistent.....i'm not too familiar with what lampard and ferdinand done.
  15. TEXTBOOK Well, lets put it this way mate. Souness clearly wanted rid of Bellamy, so if Fred had then turned around and said that Bellamy isn't going, THEN you could have said he was interfering. As it happens, the absolute correct decision should have been sacking Souness on the spot for being unable to manage his players and assaulting said player on the training ground. if true, also does that mean bellamy should have beens sacked for throwing a chair at john carver in public and his training ground fights ? Possibly. Carver accepted the apology and was big enough to get on with things. Should Chelsea also have sacked Terry, Lampard etc for past behaviour ? Should ManU have sacked Rio Ferdinand ? so if the problem wouldn't have arisen had bellamy been sacked post carver then the problem originally seems to lie at robsons/fat fred's door, and it's you that said possibly the correct decision was a sacking..............seems like you may have ansered yourself
  16. sems like allardyce is trying to force things one way or the other

  18. Fred Shepherd & Soumess both thought so. Well, Souness did. Not so sure about Shepherd, he probably backed his manager, like good chairman do. Bobby Robson didn't think so, and neither did lots of other managers, otherwise they would have tried to sign Ameobi !!!!! are you trying to make out that the sale of bellamy was a purely footballing decision ?
  19. Same can be said for Owen a lot of the time. When he isn't scoring he often does f*** all aswell. Could be true, but what I've seen of Owen, even just these past few games for England, when he isn't scoring, he still makes a few good passes and movements - it may not be enough for a good Premiership forward but he is still a better all round player than Martins (probably due to age) True Owen's movement is generally beneficial to the team. Not sure you could say the same about Martins. I think Martins workrate is good though. Just his movement isn't very intelligent. That has to improve. He is only young though and last season was his first in a new country in a poor side with a s*** manager. wonder owens movement be so good if he played up front on his own ?
  20. I honestly believe that Sam isn't a nutcase, and is content with a front quartet of Michael Owen, Obafemi Martins, Mark Viduka and Shola Ameobi, and isn't senile enough to get rid of someone with the sheer class that Owen possesses, for some downhill renegade who can't score into double figures - who doesn't have a neck. never ceases to amaze me when people turn up goalscoring statistics for support strikers and compare them with out and out goalscorers to try and justify "who is the better player". Also - does anyone seriously think that Newcastle United are better off with Shola Ameobi than Craig Bellamy ? why limit the choice to just bellamy and ameobi, why not say spend the money we'd get on owen and ameobi and get someone else entirely.
  21. didn't realise it was by him, suddenly it all makes perfect sense. bloke who i don't even think is interested in football twisting his miniscule knowledge of the game into misinformed, grotesque vignettes. he's trying to make a career out of being contraversial, next stop will be talk sport.
  22. Really dissapointing all of this. He has just agreed a move to a new club on a new lucrative deal and everything has been looking a bit more positive for him, but he decides to get involved in what appears to be a very petty argument. More negative headlines which he really doesn't need. The smart thing to do if i was City's Manager/Director is to drag this untill the end of the transfer window, if he dosn't give it up he will be forced to spend the first half of the season with them . I guess this whole "Loyalty payments" thing will end very soon, hopefully. Did we pay Shearer anything like that, because that will be alot of money! no,because shearer didn't have a release clause
  23. Aye, same here, i was like "No f****** way he's coming here, way bigger then us" Then we signed him AND Owen, the biggest mistake in their careers and two of the biggest flops in our history aye righto

    Kieron Dyer....

Maybe Owen is looking to move on. I see Newcastle and Chelsea are the latest being linked with Bafetimbi Gomis. Spurs and the scum were rumoured to be interested last month, meant to be quite decent with a lot of potential, only 21. The downside would be the price won't be cheap and he's another one headed for the ANC. nee chance of him going to sunderland and a politician
