  1. tbf due to not getting players in the box the oppo can usually press high against us meaning the full back gets closed down quickly.
  2. they've got what they wanted.........http://www.dirtyleeds.com/forums/topic/12760-league-cup-third-round/
  3. Nothing to do with world class players, its do with being coached properly its easily done. Your acting like its an alien concept, it really is quite a simple set up but we do need the right forwards and a bloody winger. Besides as long as Hatem is here you will never see the typical natural wingers on both sides set up here. which is why with the personnel we have I wouldn't be looking at using wingers but ben arfa and remy playing off a front man. sissoko and anita both seem more suited to a 3 man midfield, wouldn't mind a winger as an option but players whos natural game is getting in the box is more of a need for me. A winger who can make late runs into the box is what i want tbh, someone who can provide width but also make runs into the box when we are dawdling on the ball 25 yards from goal. they can but we don't have any, we have midfielders who seem better suited to a 3 and ben arfa who'd be better off as part of a roaming duo, especially if the other is a natural at getting in the box. to bring a more orthodox winger in wouldn't get the best out of the team as a whole IMO. i'm not anti 4-4-2, i just don't see it being the best for us with the players we have.

  5. Just checked, they do go into the Europa Group stages. really don't think it matters moneywise. Moneywise, nah i couldn't care less about that madras, just daft they get to the group stages of the Europa for losing. oh aye it's daft. i just thought you mentioned it as if it may have a bearing on the gomis deal/no need to sell etc.

in a similar vein and to the tune of If I was a rich man......"If I was a linesman, I would execute defenders who applauded my offsides". HMHB? yip
  7. we've played leeds up here before in the league cup. I remember aiden butterworth ripping us a new one and dumping us out 4-1.

  11. pluses....dummett, good, result, sammy, no injuries (loads of late stuff going on) minuses.....still no pattern or rhythym to our game.
  12. sunderland knocked us out on pens in the league cup about 1980, pecsi dozsa knocked us out the fairs cup on pens about 1970.
  13. we'll scrape through and go out to man utd's reserves in the next round.
  14. he'll still be a great finisher and against most teams in the league thats all he'll be required to do. not sure he'll be a great signing though. I'd be pushing lukaku as much as possible and eto'o will only stop him getting game time.

would be very good up top on his own if he got support, thats whats lacking, no one else in the team at present has "gettin gin the box" as part of their natural game. including gouffran when he's not playing up top himself. He doesn't have the first touch, physical presence, pace, aerial ability or control to be effective up top by himself, not unless you've got two forwards working right behind him and willing to get infront of him at every opportunity, hence the advance 433 comment. If only he had one stand out ability I mentioned he'd be effective even in our current plight not relying on others to bring him in to the game. He's an all rounder with a poachers game, everything about him screams don't let him be the 1 in any formation. Problem then if we get Gomis is I think Gomis & Remy will make a better partnership in a 442. i think we have confused "up top", i mean in the box for which he has everything, just needs a little space that would be created by the oppo defenders having more than just him to think about.

can you do that ? i know you can tip your hat to someone, you can take your hat off to someone..............but can you tip your hat off to someone ? probabaly why hat wearing is dying off IMO. too many top hats getting caught between tipping and being took off.
  18. true, i just don't see the point of getting remy otherwise.
  19. Gomis and Remy are indeed dastardly Frogs so I guess we should all feel disappointed if they turn out to be this summer's major signings. Still need a winger IMO and then there's the Cabaye scenario.... not playing wingers could well get the best from ben arfa. Still think we need someone on the left side to give the team a bit of balance, let Ben Arfa do what he wants to an extent but the team would be a lot more balanced with a quality winger on the left balancing out Ben Arfa's roaming runs. Sort of like how City has Silva on the left floating about but Navas holding the width on the right. whereas I see our midfield as being perferctly set up for a 3. that would also give bena raf the chance to roam, attacking full backs to do that. the key being the other forward....can't be a stabdrad through thye middle striker like cisse, got to be someone mobil, can drop deep but looks to get on the end of things IN THE BOX. (hopefully remy). last season i'd pushed the idea of ben arfa and marveaux playing off cisse or ba but after watching them enough neither has getting in the box to get on the end of things in their game. Remy is definitely a key we need him to be our Aguero here but obviously not as technical or anywhere near as good, but i wonder could Cisse and Remy work in such a set up? The way i see it for us to have any success with 442 then Remy needs to have a great season, then its a question who is the most suitable partner. I'm undecided on who that would be. thats why given remy I don't think we'd play 4-4-2. a gomis signing would be gomis or cisse NOT gomis and cisse.

  23. This. Absolutely this. aye but more so for that season. as for where we are i'd say woodgate sprinting to the east stand touchline to keep the ball in from our attack..........for partizan to break and score has had a longer lasting effect. tell the truth though i think the leadership of fred and doug would only end either of two ways. sell out or leeds.
  24. fitting, we play more like shadows on a cave wall than real men.
