The player loses out on any loyalty bonuses and transfer fee, so the selling club get to keep the lot. That makes sense, thanks. more annoyingly though, they can agitate for a move like suarez is, like given did, but unless they actually put a request in they get the cash. disgusting, disgraceful and completely taking the piss.

hmm don't know like. it would be funny to watch the scouse volte face happen in public.

would you not be tempted, with that team, to give ben arfa and remy more licence to roam, swaitching sides etc ?
-
no, they just have toi be aware whats happening and be in a position to cover it if necessary. some players do it naturally, some can be coached, some will never be able to do it. IMO someone who has come from the Ajax system as a dm will know that for sure and I'm sure cabaye can be coached/told to do it. I've played a few games at dm in my 18 years of playing and was once told to cover either full back if they bomb on, no coaching just told and i do it. so someone getting paid thousands a week should be able to do the same. It's part of the dm role and part of your role as a midfielder in a central 3 with no wingers thats all a bit football manager for me. each player should take up the optimum position for their team. if as a nominal DM and your full back attacks and you see a great opportunity to get forward you should do it and rely on your team mates to cover the full back. it's football, not chess.

If Pardew stops his mental block of having to play Tiote and puts Sissoko there instead, it would be a start. I don't believe Sissoko/Cabaye would work very well. But I do believe a midfield 3 with them all would be great (or a proper Tiote replacement). thats how i see it, especially with anita, ben arfa and attacking minded full backs. just doesn't look like it's in the managers thinking.

west ham will imo.

sure there was a thread on rtg once "would you accept £20million for mclean ?"

being a regular on here I thought the default position was to blame our lot ? maybe using the evidence to hand on each occasion may make things more even. Or you could follow trends in our transfer behaviour which include targeting unsettled players which can lead to protracted negotiations if we're pinching pennies as we always do, and as a result quite often leaving ourselves short and sacrificing points until we get the deal done. transfer window behaviour ? like agreeing a fee for remy last january and (rumour has it) aubameyang a few weeks back ? admittedly we do take advantage of contract stuff (bloody well ope we would) but it's not the be all and end all. If a player's contract isn't vulnerable we're not interested in him. It's no way to built a team. remy and aubameyangs contracts werent vulnerable were they ? Aubameyang was out of contract next year if he'd stayed I think. he didn't, and left for a biggish fee. If you knew why did you ask? rhubarbical question.

If he's our number one target which we're lead to believe he is then just keep plugging away... Still plenty of time left in the window... your'e a spurs fan aren't you ?

now, you see, this is at the top of the page, I know it's the liverpool page but it could so easily be our near neighbours.
-
was he hemmed rigid to the wing or was there an idea he could come inside, switch with ben arfa and debuchy coming outside ?
-
thing is, it's what the majority wants if it gets there team the players they want.
-
Modern players aren't allowed to by their agent unless they can't breathe for being surrounded by cash. I sometimes forget who works for who. The player should be instructing the agent on what he wants to do ffs. The tail's wagging the dog. at some point though even gordon taylor would have to admit "aye, that behaviour constitutes a transfer request"............not holding my breath.
-
Quite clear its the agents who are to blame here, we agreed with Lyon and the player. agents fees are always a largish part, agree a fee, agree a wage then the sellers say "surely the agents fees are yours" ?
-
easier said than done, spurs last season up front, the mackems for years at left back, many clubs have weaknesses and are short here and there, because we don't focus on them as much we take it for granted they are ok.

That team would look infinitely better with him instead of Jonas. Also, Anita needs to be in there instead of Tiote, but at least Tiote is playing in his natural position. I can accept Tiote and Taylor although i don't agree with it, but Jonas is just What performances from MYM have you seen to genuinely suggest he's better than Taylor, btw? could say similar from colo's first season. mapou looked the part andf more in france and just needs to get used to this league (like colo did). dodgy decision time, imo taylor/colo is the best partnership for us at present till mapou gets up to speed which he'll only do with games, do we play him from the off, which means playing a weaker team, for the longer term benefit ?
-
Surely it would only be 'ironic' if the loan were refused or something.... What we have here is a lame coincidence. Or have I just been severely whooshed? tbf it could well cost us a rumoured 1.8million for a months loan. very wongaesque.
-
depends what they are, apparently we agreed terms with him so i'd guess he's prepared for a pay cut in order to play games.
-
that dosent mean a player can't adapt. he's got basics which he is good at, in his case covering in front of the defence which coulkd be ideal with attacking full backs of the santon/debuchy style (tiote could sink back to spread the centre halves and allow them to push on) hes defintly been sussed on the ball as a standard centre mid picking the ball up of the centre halves.
