  1. Wouldnt say Hleb, Reyes, Wiltord or Van Bronkhorst were failures tbh. They just didnt measure up to his other successes. Wiltord especially was a crucial part of the team during his time there. Jeffers and Wright were outright failures though, no surprises with them being english. Another peculiar buy was Cygan, supposedly the french Jaap Stam.
  2. Any particular reason you think this? simply by going from what i saw in the world cup, he seemed strong and solid at times but then make some really silly fouls, just like our Bramble. Obviously it isn't great evidence to judge a player on the world cup, like it would be idiotic to say Gerrard is crap because he didn't shine in Germany, but i haven't seen him play elsewhere. Fair enough, I haven't seen him at all so looking for any eye-witness accounts! Let's hope he is generally more consistent. Or at least that he has the knack of making mistakes that don't lead to goals! You're far more likely to be punished at this level.
  3. I assume everyone wants Nobby back in at RB next game but will Roeder have the balls to drop Carr? This is Roeder's first big selection decision i feel and possibly determines whether he has the right stuff to be a good manager. Knowing him however he'll probably play both, Carr on the left and Nobby on the right.
  4. Pleased for Pearson and us. He's done a good job since joining us and deserves this opportunity. Also gives us first hand knowledge of the country's top talents. Cant lose tbh.
  5. Issnt it on the same deal we wanted him on? Loan with a view to make it permanent? Massive screwup (again) if true.
  6. This time last year we had 26 pts from 23, in 14th place (i think) and a gazillion points away from bolton. We then won our next 2 games to be on 32 pts from 25. Currently we're on 33 pts from 25, 1 point better than last season. Just 8 pts from Bolton. Winning our next game against fulham will put us in a much much healthier position. Going by the table, surely we have to believe that we're capable of challenging for the 5th place? I'm also fairly certain that we'll finish above Portsmouth, Everton and Reading.
  7. Maybe not the most disappointing due to their price but Fumaca and Disco Des must be the one of the most peculiar ones. EDIT : May i add Guivarch to the list of uninspiring transfers. Top scorer in france and world cup winner when he joined. Did f* all while he was here. At least we manage to flog him for a decent fee.
  8. You can add Éric Abidal to that now. A left back! Where is this mentioned? Would be pleased with this signing.
  9. Honestly thought it was one of Martins' liveliest games. Touch was better than before and was very involved unlike many of his other games.
  10. what i posted on the other thread. So unless any of you goes by the name Arsene Wenger or is some proven scout there's really no telling who's right who's wrong.
  11. Bridge, Shevchenko + 5m would force my hand.
  12. Anyone has a picture of edgar, solano, huntington and taylor huddling after the edgar goal? Was class.
  13. Dear Lord, I promise to stop mocking Mr Crouch about his queer build and lack of ability if you would somehow prevent us from securing his services. This includes certain jokes involving giraffes, donkeys, Mr Crouch as well as his missus. It would be nice if you would get us Leighton Baines too. Yours sincerely, wm
  14. Regardless if he is massively underrated or not, is him good enough to beat other keepers to get into your squad? Has your opinion been influenced by his sterling form this season? I mean, if you fancy Foster, Carson, Hahnemann or Kenny you can't look back at their history because htey are new to the league. But Jaaskelainen has been here for ages, if the poll is made last year would you have said the same? To me Jaaskelainen is a very good keeper but I think he is another Mark Schwarzer and Thomas Sorensen - unsung heroes or Mr Reliable for their teams; A patch of excellent form and suddenly all the plaudits come awake. Anyway, if Jaaskelainen's excellence continues for the rest of the season, he would be a very strong contender for the keeper of the year award. Jaaskelainen's been consistently good for Bolton for ages, not just this season.
  15. All that and you think Silvestre would be 'great'. Oh my
  16. I think you've forgotten how average/crap Distin was for us. I thought Distin was average for us, but he linked up well with Robert and was also often left exposed by him. I also think his reading of the game has improved alot since leaving us, and must be seen as a better and cheaper option than Silvestre who is really crap.
  17. Silvestre is crap. Responsible for alot of ManU's goals conceded last season. No coincidence that ManU are conceding less now he's out of the team. Note - conceded the penalty against Wigan on boxing day as well. Distin would be the better option for the same job.
  18. Is Marek Jankulovski getting games at Milan? Wouldnt mind seeing him here.
  19. Ameobi. That's the one that truly matters.
  20. Boumsong 8m. Luque 9.5m What has that got to do with either Bellamy or Martins? This? How much they cost has nothing to do with how good they are.
  21. At that price i'd rather have anelka. Guaranteed scorer against Man City, Arsenal, Bolton and Liverpool.
  22. I dont think you can compare them efficiently because they perform different roles in the team. If anything I'd like to see the pair as a partnership, with Bellars working the channels and Martins doing his thing in the middle. However they both lack that bit of finesse in their game and might struggle to open up teams that sit back to defend.
  23. Ramage can say he brung silverware to the toon at least tongue.gif Brought. Sorry. [/Dave]

    3-5-2

4 at the back is standard in england. Its the most basic and well balanced defence line. Everyone knows how to play in a back four. Managers like Ferguson, Mourinho, Wenger and Benitez have all stated no matter what variation in their formation, its always 4 at the back, because it works. Simple as.
  25. i believe he has 3, 2 of them on dyer's super goals...the other one i can't place fantasy league seems to think he has 5. including dyer's goal against arsenal and spurs, parkers goal against spurs, duff against westham and the penalty won against bolton.
