Brown is a very good defender.. been underrated for years so I'm pretty surprised at some of the positive comments on him. Not so sure about his organising abilities though but certainly much better than any of our current batch. Having said that, even Nesta will struggle, with our current fullbacks.

To be honest I hate Chelsea with a passion but still has a lot of time and respect for Mourinho, for what he has done with Porto and now Chelsea. A great manager really, protects his players and knows how to set up a winning side. More than can be said for Glenn.

Domi was mostly played as a left winger in his latter days. Wasnt too happy about it too.

Don't think anyone can deny he's a better player than Onyewu though. I also like the fact that he gives us proper cover at left back. Two for the price of nothing. Only downside is his age and he may be considered 'over the hill' and 'looking for his last pay package'.

Players need time to settle in. Its pretty much a gamble in this department. Look at Evra, Vidic, Agger, Boumsong, Ben Haim, Boulahrouz. All average/shite when they first joined. Some blossom some dont. Its anyone's guess whether Gooch can make it or not but he's certainly not doing himself justice at the moment.

Have to say I fancy Espanyol and Sevilla to go out today. Both on away goals.

Would be happy with Rooney, Van Persie, Anelka if we didnt get Martins. Likewise I wouldnt mind swapping for either one of them.

Actually plays like a skinny version of Viduka.

Bremen is a very good team with plenty of quality players. So are Benfica. Together with Sevilla they are the three favourites above us imo. Beyond that we have as much chance as anyone else. And of course on our day we can beat anyone so we're definitely contenders for the cup.

Didnt know whether its the tactics or players but they might as well have stuck Gazza and SBR in centre midfield today. Butt and Parker were horrible. Average in the first half, woefully invisible the second. Didnt show for the ball, couldnt distribute, didnt win any headers.. In short we didnt try to play football at all. All we did was to hoof it long and hope for a lucky break. How I wished at some point Parker will grab Bramble by the neck and demand for the short ball... but alas our inspirational captain, well, enough said. We really need Dyer or Emre in the team. Also, I've said a million times before, Roeder is shite when he has decisions to make. Away to a pub team at home with 3 away goals and 2 goals lead, with a crucial league game in 3 days what do you do? Start your full squad. Plus Rightback is the one position he didnt have to make any decision, Nobby has got to start there. Yet..

I dont think he'll ever be good enough for us but I believe he can be a decent premiership striker. One thing I'm certainly surprised at is the number of freekicks he's scored. I'm sure most of us didnt know either, that he's good at setpieces.

Saw the game against Boro, Davies was bullied all game by first Yakubu then Viduka. Ok on the ball but saw nothing special.

I think Ashton is a good player but is overrated due to his prolonged absence. Wouldnt take a chance on him, due to him being injury prone. Its a shame we missed the boat 3 times on Anelka... genuine class...
