  1. Solano was not marking anyone for the goal but it was Butt who lost D'Haene to score. Dont understand how everyone failed to see the same. Does immunity go with the captain's armband as well? Certainly seem so with Shearer, then Parker.
  2. I love interviews from a certain black man who sound like an 8 yr old.... PM me too... thanks
  3. Baba caused the free kick, and his poor marking lead to the goal.. Baba caused the free kick but it was Nobby's poor marking. Was Butt who lost his man actually.
  4. Better off putting all your money on us winning against the pub team... almost even money.
  5. I reckon 60 points would secure a european spot (at least intertoto). That'll mean 8 wins out of the last 11 games, which includes home fixtures against Chelsea and Arsenal. Tall, tall order imo. EDIT : Interestingly, 60 points were enough for Liverpool to qualify for CL in 2003 and 61 for Everton in 2004. The bar has been set higher this time round though. 63 points could only secure 6th for Blackburn last season.
  6. Are there any up and coming talents we should look out for in the youth team? Kazenga Lua Lua sounds like he could be a real prospect. So does Carroll Also good to see us amongst teams like Liverpool, Man U, Arsenal, who all have superior youth systems... No sight of Chelski btw....
  7. This one I'm not too clear but my impression is... If an english team wins the Uefa cup they will qualify as cup holders regardless of their placing. If their league position also qualifies them for the Uefa Cup then the FA has the option of giving the league spot to the next highest placed team. So potentially we can have 10 teams playing in Europe a season. CL - 1st to 4th placed teams. Uefa - 5th placed, FA cup winner, Carling Cup winner, Uefa Cup holder, Intertoto Cup qualifier, Uefa Fair play award winner.
  8. His reaction when the referee deemed that he fouled Momo Sissoko....
  9. Tidy player but lack that bit of class. Similar to Nolan. Would be a good squad player. Especially on a free.
  10. Ratings Harper - 6.5 - At fault for the goal, kicking was poor at times... but otherwise was good Taylor - 7 - Poor in the first half, better in the second. Got up well to win the penalty and made some crucial headers at the end. Gooch - 8 - Its true, he wins everything in the air. Solid game overall. Keeps it simple. Extra 0.5 for being mistake free (a rarity for us). Bramble - 6 - Same old Babayaro - 6 - Average, considering this is his first game in a while. Dives in too easily for my liking. Nobby - 7.5 - Still the best passer in the team. Good penalty Parker - 7.5 - Strives in this sort of game. Wet surface gave him the extra zip in the tackle. Used the ball surprisingly well too. One volleyed pass to Milner(which he failed to control) on the left stood out. Butt - 6.5 - Usual solid performance. Milner - 6.5 - Tried hard, didnt happen for him. Dyer - 7 - Full of running, caused Agger plenty of problems in the first half. Faded after the hour. Martins - 7 - Few chances, used the ball okay still lack that bit of finesse in his game. Scored. Subs Sibierski - 6.5 - Came on, fought hard for the ball. Did well. Duff - 6.5 - Didnt do much except wasting time by the corner flag. Did a good job on that though.
  11. Well 5th place is Uefa Cup. The other two spots go to Cup winners. If the Carling Cup winner has already qualified then 6th place gets the spot automatically. If the Fa Cup winner has qualified the spot will first go to the runners-up, like West Ham last year. If the runners-up have also qualified then 7th place gets the last remaining Uefa Cup spot... Intertoto qualification goes to the highest placed applicant. So if no one applies then it can go the the 10th, 11th and so on. EDIT: 6th spot this season is guaranteed Uefa Cup qualification already since the finalists are Arsenal and Chelsea, so it doesnt matter who wins it.
  12. Not if both FA cup finalists have already qualified for europe.
  13. Once again we come from behind to win.
  14. If you believe the comments, you are a mental. It was only a few days ago he was quoted as saying what a blow it was to lose Carr for a month. Whoever said anything about Roeder?
  15. He did state that he'll be back one day and to keep the no. 6 shirt for him. Well its still available.. There's no doubt that an injury free Woody would be the best option, cut price as well, but can we afford to take the chance? If Gooch impresses then I wouldnt mind if we get both Gooch and Woody, release Shambles and rotate between them two and Taylor... Edgar and Huntington filling in when necessary.
  16. Buffon Zambrotta Nesta Terry Grosso Gerrard Fabregas C Ronaldo Ronaldinho Eto'o Henry Would be an awesome attacking team. Cech Gallas Ferdinand Puyol Heinze Vieira Deco Essien Kaka Rooney Drogba Would make a powerful team. EDIT : Cant believe I left out Toure. I'll have him in place of Heinze. Puyol Toure Ferdinand Gallas.
  17. Positive comments imo. I think Nobby's realised that he's not going to get in the team ahead of Milner at right wing so he's decided to compete against Carr directly for rightback spot. If you remember previously even when he was doing well at right back he has always maintained that he's only doing a temporary job and Carr is still first choice. Well someone obviously had a rethink when he was left out against Fulham. Can only be good news for us.
  18. Roeder hasnt exactly set the world on fire but he does deserves credit for one thing - the team has shown character and determination at times to come back from behind this season... something we never do during Souness's era and the latter stage of Bobby's. On the other hand, we've also lost the lead more times than ever before.
  19. The game against Fulham was a real test for him as he had real decisions to make and he blew it. He'll do a job for us now but will struggle to lift us beyond mediocrity.
  20. Off topic but i wish Roeder would shut up about the injuries already.

    This season

There's already another league spot for european qualifications due to Arsenal and Chelsea both making the CC final... hopefully the FA cup will be the same... so that 7th spot will secure UEFA qualification and 8th will see us in Intertoto again. Either will do me.
